got a text message 7am local time to inform me my plane had been delayed by 2 hours!!! to 8pm (scheduled take off is 4pm so interesting addition VS!) - apparantly delay was due to our scheduled aircraft being struck by lightning.
any way got to McCarran and have to say the staff there are incredibly helpful and friendly (on the VS staff atleast)
If you thought Gatwick was boring then check out McCarran - atleast McCarran had free wifi.
Got onto plane about 8.20 and was sat in nice comfortable seat, however the person in the seat the otherside of the aisle had a broken seat and my wife had a loose panel under her seat (apparantly due to a broken cable tie on the previous bodge job repair!)
Took off 9pm and got into entertainment system, again absolute sh1te and to top it off my tv programmes were unable to play properly so I got a free dvd player to use with the incredible selection of 6 films!!!
The food was served fairly promptly and we were given a menu with a third of it unavailable! I asked if they had an alternative to my desert as i don't eat sugar and was told in no uncertain terms no that's it.
After that everyone reclines their seats and you end up with less room than a neconomy seat!!
The rest of the flight went smooth and we made up a half hour or so.
Oh well never bother with PE again. [V]

Oh dear again.

It seems odd to me that you didn't notice the difference between a Y seat and an economy seat.

Surprised the crew didn't offer you some fruit as an alternative to the pudding.

Even with the seat in front reclined I have always found a huge difference between PE and Econ!

Thank you for the TR. Sorry to hear that you didn't think much of the PE product.

the only noticable differences between PE & Y to me were a seat that was a little wider, isles that were wider, better cutlery/crockery (who cares) and a quicker embarkation/disembarkation process.

yes there was more room in front, but as soon as the seats went back in front of us with the fixed armrests we had, it was more difficult to get past my wife than it was in Y.

i have been PE before out to LAS but must have been luckier with the return plane which was a 747 from LAX to LHR with a different (better) config in my humble opinion.

I hate flights where the whining continues even after the engines have been switched off [ii]

I think there have a been a few 'Is PE worth it?' threads around.

Which seats did you have? Were you up in the bubble or downstairs?

we were upstairs for PE.

i can certainly understand the complaints especially on the LGW routes as you are after all paying a premium.
