We are going to a concert at the M.E.N at the end of this month (Monday 30th) and wondered if any V-Flyers know what the parking is like near by, or if anyone has any suggestions of where to park?. We are driving back home afterwards so looking for somewhere that will give me a quick link back to the M60 and won't take hours for us to get out of.

Any info/advise much appreciated.

If you're after a quick getaway I'd probably go for the arena's own. The biggest issue if you plumb for somewhere else will be security. The MEN got good links out to the 60/62. Have you thought about the Train, as the arena's basically in the station (they do direct from Leeds & assume beyond?)

Eitherway you'll be running out hanging your head in shame if it is a Tina Turner gig...

Firstly, Tina is a legend and good on her for still going at the age of 97!

Secondly, train doesn't appeal, rather get in my car and be in control of getting home without relying on our one of our countries wonderful rail network operators.

I have also heard bad things about getting out of the M.E.N car park, have you used it personally?

I know those who have, and to be honest where ever you're going to park you'll get stuck in it. I have no leads on any that escape the mad rush at the end. Plumb for a spot nearest the exit not nearest the entrance..(you'll be suprised how many do this then sit and curse trying to get out..)
Most we know swear by the train, and to be honest that'll be the way we'd go if needing to be back. You also get to have a cheeky drink as well..(post gig trains are busy/safe/good atmosphere)
When we've had sitters we've always made a night of it and Malmaisoned to the morning...

There is a carpark round behind Malmaison that you could use.

Is that far away?

How far away was that car park we used last Jan for the PCP (nr those apartment you all stayed in), IIRC we passed the MEN on our way there?

I have only been to the MEN once and we just parked in a city centre NCP car park - I belive it was next to the Printworks.. I don't remember it being that extortionate, by NCP city centre standards. The Arena is close to the city centre and was only a short walk, after we had eaten in Wagamama's and getting out was a breeze after the show.

There's a car park under the Renaissance Hotel on Blackfriars . I think they've opened a multi storey car park at Shude Hill as well . ISTRC there was also one off Victoria St - possibly the old Exchange Station? All of these are about 10 minutes walk from the MEN. There's also one off Corporation St, opposite the Co-op Bank, that is the Victoria train station car park but I don't know whether that's open of an evening.

These are at the right end of town for getting out back to the M62 via Cheetham Hill...

Thanks for the info guys, the Printworks is a good idea Nick, will probably get something to eat there first, so thanks for that and the Shude Hill NCP is right next door, so a perfect combination.

Cheers,

Arena's own is the best one. Will take a while getting off but around that area is always gridlocked following a concert. We have parked there a few times and had no trouble finding a space. Mind you it was The Tweenies and Disney on ice. So may be different following a sell-out. We go on the train for sell-outs. Into Victoria as its linked . Enjoy Tina xx
