Thanks for that explanation, Sarah. I was beginning to get the impression that 'frequent flyers' thought it their God-given right to a faster entry back into the UK. There's no-one on this forum as pompous as that, is there?

Though I'd state again, if BAA wanted to charge a fee for people to be able to use the facilities then I'd happily pay!

Just a quick update, the Iris office was closed all day at Terminal 3 last Thursday when I travelled.
I spoke to a lady claiming to be a senior immigration officer regarding the use of the Iris System if your passport had been renewed. She told me that I should inform the Iris people that my details have changed, however, she went on to say that the system will still work regardless of if I did or not[:?]

Return to UK yesterday morning and had no problem using it.

I went into the Iris office on Thur, and told them I had a new passport, and they said nothing was needed, so as long as you use it once every two years, it will continue to work.

Anyone been through Iris recently? It was a lot quicker on Tue to recognise me, than the previous time.

Maybe when you register they need to have a booth set up to show you what to do. This is done for Privium when you register, so you experience it as you would for real.

I noticed this too a few weeks back - it used to take ages, but then knowing the outsourcer that was involved in the design and implementation.....

Hello I wonder if anyone can help. We did the Iris recognition system in 2007 and it expired in June. Do we have to go through the registration process again in order to get another two years?

I have looked on their website and there is no information on what to do when it expires.

Many thanks for any help.

I believe with Iris it lasts for two years. If you use it, the clock gets reset and you get another two years. If there's a two year period of no use, they delete your data after six months.

See here for a discussion on it.

Thanks for that link locutus. [y][y]

I have merged the two topics, to keep all Iris discussion in one place.

Brilliant; we will be OK. Just one other question; if your passport is renewed does this affect your Iris registration?

Thanks.

No. I asked this, they said there was no need to tell them.

No, I went through in March with a new passport without any problems.
