Just researching flights between SFO and MCO. And then I came across this little gem!

So SFO -> MCO on flight United 292 374

Or you can go from SMF -> SFO -> MCO (on the same flight to MCO) for 102!!

Yep, flights are coming in at around $260, so take the train. Though a cab from the train station to SMF will not be cheap, may be better to rent a car and drive out there, crazy huh.

But then you won't be able to get on the plane at SFO as you haven't taken the first flight? [?]

I'm talking about taking the train to Sacramento from San Francisco and then catching the flights back and onward

There's nothing more refreshing than flying OUT of Sacramento.

To answer Fozz's original question, yes, when I step foot in a BAA run facility.

I had the exact same thing happen a few years ago when pricing a flight on United from IAD to New York. It was much much cheaper to fly from LONDON to Dulles and on to New York, picking up the same domestic flight, than it was to buy that domestic flight directly without the LHR-IAD sector.
I ended up taking the train :)

It is the seat of government guys, show a little respect please. [;)]

What if you purchased the SMF-SFO-MCO ticket but then turned up at SFO, flustered and out of breath, claiming to have missed the flight at SMF and having had to make your way to San Fran via road or rail - would they let you board? SMF departure is 10.46 and SFO is 13.58 so it is conceivable that you have come from Sacramento as the drive is only a couple of hours or so.

I guess I should know the answer but as I have never experienced it, I am not sure; locutus above says no.
