Thought I would write a quick few thoughts on a quick BA trip to Montreal. This trip was paid for by the company and was economy. My first experience of terminal 5 was actually very good. The check in and fast bag drop was painless. The outbound flight was on a B777, the aircraft cabin was relatively clean and tidy. As could be expected for economy the leg room of 31' was very tight for a 6' 2' person. I believe the VS legroom is the same.
Now comes the bad bit, there seemed to be a general malaise with the CC - The attitude of the outbound crew whom were all incidentally older than I have previously witnessed on BA flights, was absolutely abysmal. Rude, surly and displaying nothing short of downright ignorant behaviour towards some passengers. I witnessed one very arrogant Glaswegian crew member verbally abusing one passenger whom had inadvertently unloosened his seatbelt and attempted to stand up during some mild turbulence. If I had been spoken to in this manner I can assure you that the said crew member would have regretted his behaviour. The meal supplied was the standard chicken or beef and was barely edible.
The return flight on a B767 was marginally better than the outbound leg. The crew worked hard and were generally polite. Meal was airline food nothing more nothing less. On arrival at LHR we were remote standed (Grrrr) were herded like sheep and bussed over to arrivals.
Now my point. My experience of service on VS having flown in all classes, has never ever approached the extremely poor level shown in this case by BA. Despite previous reservations about VS and my inkling to give the opposition a try, my conclusion is Willie Walsh and friends have absolutely no chance of poaching me from VS !!!!
Regards
Bryan
