Just browsing their website and noticed the SPG Gold membership is now only for one year, is this new? I don't remember that being mentioned when Amex removed the SPG Plat membership in favour of Gold and introduced PC Plat. LRoM this might be one for you?

Interesting, never noticed that before. I've had mine continually renewed - I just called to check, and they are going to see why that wording is there as they aren't aware of any limitation.

They are clearly on drugs anyway, given the increase in fee to 1800/year.

Whoa... when did that happen? I just renewed in Feb/March at the old price.

I will not be renewing for 1800 the card benefits are not worth that much to me personally.

It's part of the Titanium refresh, a few new benefits (VS Gold is one) and a hiked fee.

SPG have just renewed my Gold as well, I haven't had a plat card for 6 years and don't stay with them any more. [?]

Just had Centurion renewal pack. Confirmed over the phone with them that 'elite' membership levels including Flying Club Gold are renewed indefinitely (as long as you continue to renew your centurion card) and are not subject to the schemes normal renewal requirements . They are offering Hilton Gold, SPG gold, and IC Platinum.

Hilton Gold? That is so laughable!

Mind you, one of the most inconsistent loyalty schemes around! Try staying in the same hotel several times a year as a Gold and then Diamond and see what difference in service and recognition you get, that's even if they recognise HHonours at all!
