Whew! That Carrick goal couldn't have come soon enough. I still worry about our ability to win the League...Europe won't happen.

I'm confident about the league, have been for a while and still am.
Europe, I dunno, only time will tell, we are playing the worst football out of the four teams left but, if you saw Arsenal the other night they are vulnerable whereas we are starting to look solid at the back again.
Mind you, if we beat them, I would say it's likely we'd meet Barcelona and they just look incredible at the moment but then that would just be a one off game, I've got my hotel booked for Rome anyway :)

And proof yet again that it only takes one bad call to let a team back into the game.

And proof even more that it takes one bad team to let one (maybe) bad call to throw them off their pace. All hail the Reds.

I know what you mean, after all, Liverpools first goal against Hull yesterday came from a free kick that shouldn't have been awarded..... [;)]

The way United played in the second half yesterday, the goals were coming regardless of the penalty decision IMO.

My view is that Mascherarno wasn't fouled but on MOTD and Football First they said it was a foul.

It all swings in roundabouts. Last week Man Utd were denied a penalty against Everton that was a pen, this week they get lucky. Same came be said for every other team in the league.

The race to avoid relegation is wide open. Blackburn and West Brom have added extra twists by winning yesterday.

The race for 7th is really interesting. Personally I think I would like to see Fulham in the Europa League, Hodgson has done an excellent job in turning that side around.

As for the league title- well its off to Manchester. Liverpool have paid the price for having an exciting game of football against Aresnal and only achieving a draw rather than being industrious winning 1-0.

I know it, GJ and I were chatting, I knew that the second half would be a whole different story, but that was a bad call and the team reacted badly to it.

However it's about time that Spurs grew a set and responded to stuff like this rather than just caving in.

The positive is that they played well and if they play like that against Stoke then they could easily walk away with the 3 points.

For me Boro and Newcastle are down along with West Brom. Hull must win next weekend and hope for a Boro/Newcastle draw.

Watched the first half and turned over to watch CSI. It's alright playing with kids but you do need some old heads to help influence the game and the gooners had no one. Shame about Fletcher, getting sent off for a good tackle (saw the highlights afterwards).

That 3rd goal was a masterclass in attacking football.

IMHO I think Arsenal were rather lucky with the quarter final draw and I never really saw them beating United. In fact if we are honest they were lucky to make the quarter draw at all. Without Arshaven playing they couldn't offer anything and United were solid at the back (a lesson Liverpool learnt the hard way in the league the other week). I wonder if Wenger is going to jump ship this summer?

As for tonights game. It really depends which Barcelona team turn up. As much as this pains me, I see Chelsea getting through. Barcelona hardly despatched Bayern away from home in the last round.

However, Barca only needed to turn up for the away leg against Bayern.

I think you'll find a more switched on team tonight.

I've got my hotel and flights booked for Rome and so pleased we've got Barca in the final. Couldn't face travellign all that way to watch us play Chelsea in the final, Moscow last year was ridiculous.
I find out about my ticket this week but it's looking good :)

Well I didnt watch the game but did catch the last 10 mins on 5 Live. What a game!

Its a shame that the headlines tomorrow will be dominated by the referee. At that level, blatant mistakes (from what Green et al said on 5 Live) shouldn't be made.

And as for Drogba. Surely he is going to be given a massive fine by both Chelsea and UEFA?

Glad Barcelona made it through, although I am sure that the United strike force are rubbing their hands with glea at the thought of Barca being without 3 of the first choice defenders.

daywalker, good for you! I sure hope you get to go to the game and watch United win.

That display by Drogba was astounding. I think the ref deserved it, to be honest, but wow...I would have waited till I got in the tunnel, at least.

Rubbing their hands with glee with any defence of theirs I suspect, it's not that strong [;)] (will now be 0-0 and go to penalties again!)

Thanks GJ [y] I'll be there somehow, even if I have to pay silly money to a tout.

Drogba was a disgrace, can't believe SKY showed and played him swearign again though, I heard it all well enough first time around.

I do hope Hull stay up, I wouldn't care if all 3 currently on the bottom go down.

It's been a great season though, one of the best, and closest throughout the table - top and bottom.

A good reminder that tops and bottoms are both important.

Now, who sent that City pub league team to Old Trafford today? Mark Hughes does us yet another favour, bless 'im...

Yeh and baring some kind of miracle you will get the points by next Saturday. If the miracle was to happen, I was hoping that it would have been over the last two games.

To be fair, I am pretty pleased with how close we have pushed you boys this season. Take pride in the fact that we are much closer than ever and that it took an amazingly good clean sheet run by you boys to fend us off (although I will look back at the games against Hull at home, Man City at home, Stoke and think if only!).
