BMI Baby MAN to Palma

We made the reservation online and planned to only take carry on where you have a 10Kg allowance per person so there was no charge.We checked in on line and printed boarding passes then having realised that my wife and daughter were already up to 20kg each in shoes, we decided to take normal cases and check them in (18Kg allowance - stricly observed at Palma). This adds 12 per case at Manchester and 18 per case at Palma, so make sure you decide at the booking stage as it is cheaper. I mis-read the small print with regard to inflight meals as, on BMI flights, blue plus and above get free meals on a paid meal service flight. This flight doesn`t qualify as it only sells easyjet style food/snacks. The aircraft was a 737-500 and was clean and very punctual both ways. Flight was only half full each way and the crew friendly and efficient. Would use them again.

They are also strictly enforce hand luggage size (and their bag gauge is smaller than those used by other LCCs including FR).You could have paid the charge for the return case at MAN. I got stung by them back in Feb as my carry on (which has fitted every airline gauge it's ever been placed in) was deemed too big. I paid the outbound and inbound charge at the same time as it saved the aggro of having to pay at the airport on my return (and also worked out cheaper).

I suppose I should have asked, but you would think they would have offered this choice when we paid at Manchester.

I don`t know if this is already common knowledge, but here goes anyway. When we picked up our hire car at Palma airport, the fuel tank was full and charged for and they asked me to bring it back empty. On short trips this often means you can`t take it back empty unless you spend the whole time driving round in first gear with the handbrake on. I told the guy that I wasn`t going to use anywhere near a full tank and we agreed that if I brought it back half full, he would re-fund the other half of the fuel cost. This he did on our return and saved us about 35.
