We spent the night before at The Sheraton Skyline and found it very comfortable, reasonably priced and with great service. They gave us a great deal to leave the car there over and above the 15 nights included.

The only niggle was that we asked the Concierge to book us a cab next morning and he told us a black cab wouldn't take all our luggage so arranged an MPV - at 18!!!!! It did the job but was unnecessary.

Anyway, we arrived at T3 and were swiftly sent upstairs to check-in. This took a couple of minutes and we were quickly through security and on our way to the Clubhouse. In fact we were there before it opened [:D] Once inside we sat in the Gallery and had an OJ then I went to have my hair cut while T had scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. He then went for his hair cut while I had a bacon sandwich. We both felt obliged to have a glass of champagne...........and another, then T had a Virgin Redhead while I had ........yet another glass of champagne.

Soon we were called to board and wandered down to find no priority boarding in place and were quite unable to get anywhere near the front of the queue to jump in! On board we settled in our seats and opted for an OJ. A very professional FA asked if we were familiar with the suites - yes - but went over a few features anyway. The Captain announced the flight would be 8hrs 25mins and we pushed back on time. There were few aircraft in front so were were up and away very quickly.

It seemed to take a while to serve lunch - I guess due to the time but the IFE was on very quickly. I had the blue cheese salad which I enjoyed and a very nice apple pie and custard - no main course. I watched Changeling which I found compelling and then settled down to sleep for a while. Tea came around 90 minutes pre Miami and we chose to share a scone and the ricotta cake - delicious. I watched Slum Dog Millionaire but sadly the IFE was switched off 20 minutes before the end of the movie.

Arriving at Miami we were very quickly at the gate and were first off the aircraft. A swift walk found us at an empty immigration hall with about 15 officials and not a single passenger, so we were first through and our bags were out in less than 5 minutes. We got a cab and were at our South Beach hotel 55 minutes after touchdown!

All in all an excellent flight, only slightly spoiled by the close proximity to the bar which while not especially noisy, was distracting.

Great TR, sorry we missed saying hi to you in the club house. Would have been nice to have met up with our very first fellow member! Maybe we should wear a red rose or something like that to aid ID?

Pleased to hear of your very positive experience on the day, it's great when a plan comes together and what a terrific start to the cruise.

warmest regards

A red rose? A tad old hat, don't you think? How about if we strut around brandishing a lime? That should make us easily identifiable...

The old Lime...why didn't I think of that! A wee bit obvious though xxx

I once got spotted by NapaMatt due to the prominent display of my V-Flyer luggage label, although it's now broken :-(
