Helicopter tour?

Can anyone recommend a helicopter tour to the GC?
There seem to be loads of companies offering them and a variety of types.

Any advice welcome

For starters wait until you get to Las Vegas to book. You'll save a packet as they seem to be discounted once you hit town. If you are only going to be there a few days and want to book in advance I would advise going to some website like Viator.com. I saved 100 by doing that rather than the company's website.

I went with Sundance tours and found them very good. They collected you from your hotel and dropped you back again.

I won't spoil it for you but the trip was just great

Maverick - did June 08, fantastic, new a/c, clean, prompt..plenty of fizz !
Just remember though the proper GC is a fair way from the bit they take you to, however very impressive none the less.
You appreciate how crap the sky bridge is, when you fly past it..

Another ditto to what HL said. We did a Sundance helicopter trip (there are a few different ones to choose from) and they were very good. We also booked through Viator and saved a lot of money by doing so. There is usually a voucher code for Viator if you Google it, which should save another 5/10%.

Just a word of warning on Vegas helicopter flights. Quite a few of the companies have a rule that charges the entire cost of the flight amongst the number of passengers.

Had two friends take trips while in Vegas thinking it would cost $200 (thats what they were told) but then finding out from their credit card company that they were being charged $1500 to $2000. You contact the helicopter company (probably from back home) and they say you were the sole occupant so it is in their terms and conditions.

In both the cases this wasn't the case and in both cases the helicopter companies asked for proof.

Easy to solve - just take a picture inside the helicopter showing its full and don't be persuaded to take an empty flight.

Also good to book via the hotel, Caesars took up the case for my second friend (we checked the credit card after the flight) and got it resolved and a typed letter apologising for the administrative over sight!

Love Vegas, been 25 times in 10 years but this is one to watch out for.

We have just returned from USA after a great time on honeymoon in Las Vegas and New York.
We booked helicopter trips on Viator.com for both places and had differing experiences.
The Vegas trip was the Grand Canyon All American Helicopter Tour and was operated by Sundance helicopters.
Cost to me was 393.60 for 2 passengers. There was a $40 per person surcharge payable locally as well. List price appears to be around $479 per person on the Sundance website.
Despite an early (6am) pick up by Limo (included) everything was perfect.
Sundance have their own premises at the main airport and once we had signed in and had our briefing we were off.
There were a total of 6 passengers and the others were all friendly!
We flew out to the GC over the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead and landed in the GC for about 45 mins.
We had time to wander and take photos before having a very nice champagne breakfast laid out by our (lady) pilot.
The only downside for me, and it seemed I was the only one, is that I got attacked by a swarm of gnats and got bitten all over my arms. Nobody's fault but still have the bites now!
On the return trip to LV my wife and I were up front and had great views of the strip etc.
We were returned promptly to our hotel by limo and my wife says that this was the highlight of the trip.

I know this thread is for Vegas but just wanted to add a quick comment on the NY helicopter trip.
We had booked the New York Grand Island Helicopter Flight at a cost of 315.42 for 2 passsengers. There was a $27.50 per person surcharge payable locally as well. List price appears to be around $240 per person on the Zip website.
The flight itself was great but getting it organised was a nightmare.
The weather was not great in NY and whilst that is not under anyones control, the company concerned Zip Aviation, were not very good at communicating. I had to make about 10 international calls on my mobile to get us booked in as despite repeated promises to call me back, both on my mobile and at the hotel, they did not do so once.
We eventually got booked in but on arrival had a wait of about an hour as they only seemed to have 2 helicopters and only one appeared to be working. Again there were 6 passengers but it was not so friendly.
The flight as I have said was good but I would not use them again.

Use viator.com to book as well as we made good savings!
