We have booked to fly UC to HKG in early March - a one way flight to join a World Cruise on its way back to Southampton. Our flight has been booked with P&O - at an amazing 1269.

I have tried but I can't access our booking to select our seats. Am I right in thinking this facility won't be available to us because the booking is with P&O and so we haven't paid the balance yet? If so, does anyone have any idea when are we likely to be able to get loaded into the system, given our final (huge) payment is due in November?

One last question, if it's not until the tickets are issued at the 3 week stage, what are the chances of getting seats away from the bustle of the bar area?

Thanks.

If you ask P&O, they should be able to give you the VS booking reference they have received when they booked your VS flight part of the package. They should have this already as they will have already booked the flight with VS even though you havn't paid P&O for it yet.

VS should also be able to give you the flight booking reference. They will probably just ask you for your flight number, date of travel and your name.

Once you have that, you should be able to access your sets maps on the VS website. Even if you can't access your VS booking yourself, you should be able to get seats assigned by giving VS a call.

I do have the flight locator reference - I'll try calling VA then. Thanks.

You won't be able to manage your booking on va.com until the booking is ticketed. They don't allow you any access until this time.

Having said that, the airline's call centre staff will be able to access your booking but not sure how much they are allowed to touch it as it still technically belongs to the agent that booked it.

I don't know if cruise trips are different, but travel agents have pre-booked requested seats in UC for me in the past. I haven't been able to amend this on 'my booking' until nearer the time and the seat is only requested never guaranteed.
