Hi, my hubby and I have 100k miles each in our seperate accounts.
We were looking to go to NY at some point (no fixed date yet)
My question is that obviously I can only search for one fare as I only have enough miles for one ticket.
Do I have to call for availability and if there are two seats, can I hand the phone to hubby, so that he can authorise the use of his miles or do we have to book seperately?
Many thanks in advance.

The website will let you search for 2 pax, but will say you don't have enough miles to continue the booking past the dates.

You can search for more than one reward seat even if you don't have enough miles in your acount (just enter the number of passengers for the corresponding number of reward fares you are searching for).
If the miles are coming out of different accounts the other party will need to authorise this with FC if booking over the phone (which is what I do having checked availability on-line). I do this reasonably frequently with Mr DL.

You could open a tab with a booking for you and another tab for mr rachie and tab between the two.

Though I recall others have done the handing over the phone thing too

It'll let me search for up to 8 ?[:?][:?]

thanks guys, I've seen the 'not enough miles' message and assumed that it didn't give me an accurate search.
That's great (not sure if I'm brave enough to do the tab thing...my computer would probably crash!)
Thanks for the advice, would love to book Las Vegas, but don't hold out much hope but would also love to go to NY, so will probably try for this one.

If you fancy Vegas think about flying into LAX and SFO where there is greater reward availability.Could even do LAX (or SFO ) for Vegas, then internal flight from Vegas to New York with VX and then home with VS via JFK or EWR (or in reverse)[:D].

You could always grab the UC return to NYC and pay for an internal flight between NYC and LAS. I think the AA flight is often around 200 return. Southwest may well be cheaper.

Thanks,

I usually fly across to San Fran, then a short hop over to Vegas on Virgin America

That way you get your moneys worth for the 100,000 miles spent..and theres the SF Clubhouse
Virgin Atlantic
