So, my renewal one's not due for another month, but the pictures in this post worry the hell out of me.

OK, so a few of us noticed the little change of the flying club section online the other day, but SERIOUSLY - if these are going to be our new cards, I'm burning mine on arrival.

YUCK. [n][:$]

Yuck. [:$][:$][:$]

Pretty tasteless and well chavvy. Doesn't even look like it has anything to do with flying.

What were the Flying Club people thinking (or what substances were they on) when that got a) thought up and b) signed off?

When my time comes to get one, I'll shred it in the nice shredder at work, and send Flying Club support the chippings back in a jiffy bag, along with a nice letter asking for a proper, tasteful card.

Well embarrassed to keep something like that in my wallet, never mind display on my luggage.

Remember the Flying Club card of yore, the one which actually had a picture of a plane on it? How I long for that.

Like I said elsewhere, I think I'm falling into a demographic that VS doesn't want as passenger anymore.

What in the name????????? Hope my renewal was processed just before. So, let me get this, save 10 bucks a flight by not loading T10 - substitute with cheap pseudo-premium rent-a-vodka. But pay marketing firm millions to design new gold card. Smart business. Drowning my sorrows in bathtub-sized cocktail ...........

What an acute lack of taste! What are they thinking?

Whaaaaaaaat!

Ya wanna get your yields up, attract business passengers, then roll out something so tacky it looks like it was made up by Playboy in 1978. Jeeps.

New silver cards for other half through the post today... [:$]

I really don't want mine to expire now, don't want these updated ikea/whsmith look-a-like cards... They also come with a horrible bit of red tape to attach to your luggage. Just awful! [xx(]

Appologies for the picture dodgy quality.

I know I am going to be in the minority here, but I think the concept of portraying a VS destination is worthy of following up [:I] That said, the photo should be so iconic for there to be no need to label the destination, it should be immediately apparent.

However I do not take to the luggage tags one iota[V]

Oh I'm glad I got my new 'old' silver card a few months ago. And as for having thet recycling symbol rioght in the middle of it - no not classy

Wouldn't be so bad if they gave you a choice (or do they?).

Agree with previous naff / chavvy / awful comments. [n]

VS seem to have ditched the old 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' maxim with one of their own - 'If it ain't broke - fix it 'till it is!' [:w][:D]

Holy s**t that is bad, the silver is better than the gold, but wow, I am wondering if the same person comes up with the food menus.

I get the feeling people will disagree, but I quite like the luggage tags.

There have been a number of odd VS decisions lately and this has now been added to the list.

Also agree with others. Not one of VS's better ideas. Although someone has probably been paid a lot of money to come up with that.

Don't you also just love the telephone number options on the card.

'From elsewhere call +44(0)844' Hmmmmm that's going to be a cheap call - not.

has anyone got any pics of the gold?

Alex

Well saw the pics and OMG i dont know what they were thinking, it dont really see what was the point. The card certainly looks worse, Silver not so bad, Tags look less likely to be noticed prefer my AMEX plat tags. I have the old red card atm and i will make gold by end of year and not so excited about having that card in the wallet
The ............flies gold worries me as with a long double barrelled surname i worry what they will fit on the card for my name [:#]

Weirdly, I had a new gold luggage tag waiting for me when I got home.

They're a *mild* improvement in real life, but we're talking 0.001%

Received my Gold renewal a few days back - thought it was a late April Fool.

Then got a second renewal pack (!) and realised they were real - and still as goddam awful.

What were they thinking?

You're right. As part of yet another cost cutting drive, there was no one left in marketing to do the branding, so the Finance Director did it. Trebles all round!

Just received my new Gold card and have to say that I dont like the new look. The 'NY@ design is fine, its the cheap look of the card and how my name is printed that gets me. Not won over here I am afraid. I preferred the cards from several years ago that had the plane on the front.

Thanks,
Sarah
