upgrading after paying with virgin airmiles

hi, we have just bought our flights to orlando using our flying club miles, will we be able to pay extra to upgrade our flights, thanks for any advice,susie

You won't be able to pay (with money) extra, but you CAN use additional miles to upgrade further, yes.

If you're thinking of doing something like this in future, it is usually better to pay for the ticket, and use miles to upgrade, since as Paul says you can't do the reverse. IE, buy an upgradeable Y fare, use miles to upgrade to PE or UC. Might be difficult to do on the Orlando route, but always worth considering.

Or buy miles to upgrade?

Unfortunately you will need more miles than you can buy at any one time or transfer from a partner e.g. Hilton, Amex etc
Next time buy a flight then use miles to upgrade. I always find giving FC a call for the best option is handy
