We are visiting London this weekend, and usually I drive to Stanmore, leave the car there overnight and then catch the tube in to central London. However, this weekend, it is a replacement bus service in operation from Stanmore, not something we fancy, so I am looking for alternatives.

Do any of the V-Flyers more familiar with London know of any similar, end of the line, type stations I could do the same at, or have any other suggestions on the tube, the only requirement would be it is Northern based and safe to leave the car.

The other option we have is to drive in to central London and park the car overnight. We are staying at the Hoxton Hotel (for 29, couldn't say no) but I am not having the best of luck with car parks in the area that are either open or close to the hotel. Again, any suggestions of car parking ideas, as long as they are fairly close to a tube line then it doesn't matter too much.

Thanks for any help, info in advance.

Hi

I use either High Barnet or Cockfosters - both easy to get to from the A1. High Barnet used to be the preferred but they have some buiding work going on and their car park is smaller at the moment.
I am at the Hoxton on Friday night with a 1 room so my car will be sat at the station as well!

Thanks for the tips, I also looked at Edgware but read mixed reviews on how safe it was, assume both are ok to leave the car overnight?

Thanks,

I have left mine overnight at both. Again, I prefer High Barnet as it seems better lit, but never had a problem with either.

No congestion charge at the weekend so might be worth looking for something closer in.

Neil,

I park at Amersham or Chorley Wood, both have secure parking and you can choose a fast train if timed well or the underground. Amersham station is next to the Police station too.

Thanks

Thanks for the tip, although both are the wrong side for me really from Hull, we will be coming M1 (maybe A1), so prefer something close to those.

Thanks again.

Dependant on the time I would suggest driving in to central London plus where i can suggest is free. I always drive in to work on weekends with engineering works on tube. can i suggest parking on Cardington Street/Melton Street/Eversholt Street/Stephenson Way/N Gower Street NW1 (near Euston) Very simple to get to, there is no parking restrictions on weekends on the parking bays, plus as was said before there is no congestion charge.

So from Euston Station you will need northern line (via bank) platform 6 to Old Street for Hoxton Hotel.

Just a suggestion

Where are you visiting and how long for as this may depend on parking and costs ?

Do you pay at Stanmore and if so how much

I live off Baker Street in Marylebone and there are plenty of car parks around and have weekend rates etc

If you need any more info let me know

We are just down late am on the Sat, leaving similar on the Sun, so just need overnight parking. Staying at the Hoxton Hotel, will be just doing a bit of shopping, a show on the night and some food and drinks.

Parking at Stanmore, is just over 6, for overnight, but then the tube is a bit more as we need a zone 1-5 travel card.

Any more info or advice appreciated.

That one is only open Mon-Fri. There is apparently one at 20 Paul Street that is open 24/7, but I can't find any info on it really.

To be honest, I wouldn't park my car anywhere around there ?

I know there is a very secure car park and I have used this in the past, In fact it's a little like a Ferrari Showroom with all the city boys parking there cars there !

Finsbury Square Car Park#8206;
Finsbury Square
Islington, Greater London, EC2A

It's a small walk to your hotel, At least your car will be safe, Use google maps with street view to get a feel for the place

Enjoy you visit

Will be like home-from-home [}:)]

Probably too far out but Osterley has a car park next to the tube. Pretty close to the M25/M4 or you use to be able to park in the Westminster area for free at weekends.

I used to drive to Osterley and park there and get the tube into London all the time -never had a problem.

We parked at High Barnet, even with the on going works there was plenty of space and it meant we didn't have to change lines, so it worked perfectly, plus only 2 to park so a bargain too.

Excellent weekend was had also, thanks.
