BA are now offering 500 bonus miles if you spend 50 in their eStore now. Though it applies to your first purchase only, so not me then as I've used them before. [:(!]

quote:Bonus BA Miles are only available to members who have not transacted with the BA Miles eStore before. Bonus BA Miles will only be allocated on the first transaction. The transaction must be over 50 and be made between 16 June and 16 July 2009. Bonus BA Miles will be added to your account within 60 days of the transaction.

Link here. Requires BAEC login.

Amazed that VS seem to have launched an offer first! [^]

Surely they should be smart and allow anyone to use it as BA are in need of revenue streams atm. I see they're trying to match Virgin flying club offer then.

[i] Yes go VS for launching the offer first! Still for now i think VS miles alot safer then BA miles [:w]

My last John Lewis order only took a few days to track but the miles did appear very quickly after that!

Used it 8 weeks ago through e-bay and never received miles. Chased up twice and appealed. They now say that I cannot claim these back as there is no agreement betwen the 2 companies (or something like that - deleted e-mail in disgust!). They did add 'With Kind Regards' though, so that was OK!!

It looks like the same company behind both stores, so assume the customer service will be the same too. Will see how I go with the VS one as my first purchase hasn't tracked yet either. [?]

Ebay is one of the few retailers where missing miles claims are not supported (I think it says it in the blurb about ebay before you click gthrough). You most probably unknowingly had a tracking cookie from an earlier time which was stil valid and thus claimed the commission. A number of price comparison sites and even google searches redirect to ebay and place a cookie some of which will claim the commission every time you use ebay for the next 30 days.

I've always got ebay miles (been using the BA equivalent of the Virgin store for a year or more) by following a few simple steps.

Always clear cookies before clicking through from the miles earning link. You can manually delete just ebay cookies if you are technically minded.
Ensure that any subsequent bids are placed by clicking through again from the miles earning link.
If you do not do ebay checkout in the same session as your bid then click through again before completing checkout.

Cheers,
Brian.

Thanks for that. BA appear to be conciliatory as I have just received a chain of e-mails following from my latest complaint and following on from a 'what shall we do with this customer?' and the internal reply ' apologise and give him the miles', it seems I may be getting them after all, although nothing appearing as yet!

Thanks again.

I haven't had too many problems with them - may take 3-4 weeks sometimes to add miles.
Never got any miles for a purchase at HMV and my purchase at Misco was based on the amount before VAT was added so lost 1-15 miles there. Shame Misco have gone from the BA Store now and I liked them for PC bits :(
