On BBC world news this morning, SRB stating that they are due to make 'quite a positive big new announcement' which they are due to make 2/3 hours later which would be about midday.

He also reckons that BA are set to scrap First class completely.

Big new announcement? Could it be that they're bringing Tanqueray 10 back??

Folks much as I love him to bits, I can't let Beardie get away with this one:

'We've always offered a better than first class product but we've charged a business class fare for it'

Well that was the mantra ten to fifteen years ago, and to be honest it did hold a little bit of water back then. But now the only thing that approaches F in the UC product is the LHR Clubhouse. Here is one incontrovertible fact. In the air with a 15:1 pax:cabin crew ratio, you're never going to be able to even start competing with F where you have more like a 4:1 ratio.

Cheers, H

As Howard says, yet again proof that SRB has no clue what is going on at his airline.

He's talking up his airline, free advertising. He's hardly going to say 'our product is sub First Class' is he?

Edit! I think he did purely for the coverage, and Upper Class simply doesn't have the same impact as saying First. He often does the same thing about Virgin Trains, who admittedly are improving, based on my last trip with them a month ago.

Yes he's talking it up, trying to rub salt into BA at any opportunity. But to even consider that UC is as good as first on EK, SQ, QF or even BA is a bit delusional! Agree with Howard.

Spooky, on my original pass on writing my note those were exactly the same airlines I had quoted.
