Just brought her ladyship out to MCO and she asked not to be sold please, she's quite happy in Virgin colours - but would like the new livery asap as is a bit jealous of some of her sisters!
You could buy her some new togs here ...

Very good tonty bear lol! she needs some new ife too - maybe could pop to currys? and to DFS for some new seats?
mm. not sure how the typical DFS offering would stand up to a few trips across the water.

PS mind you, does this mean we could pay nothing now and have it interest free for a number of years?

G-VAST is being parked as of September so this could be where the confusion has come from.V-GOA and V-ATL also being parked.
I'd hazard a guess that this is probably going to be a seasonal lay-up, and likely because these airframes will be coming close to needing maintenance (and therefore large sums of money spending on them) around then.
Stop them for the winter, and then assuming the situation has improved and there is a need, reactivate them in the Spring next year. Else leave them parked until such time as they are needed, then reactivate.
LH has been doing this off and on, especially with some of their A300s, and will be parking a 744 and a 346 around the same time as VS later this year.

I am assuming that in the case of G-VAST, operating out of LGW/MAN, that loss of slots will not be an issue with the grounding. I don't think either airport is full.
With the LHR slots, from a quick Google search on 'BA phantom flights' (as they operated empty aircraft from LHR to Cardiff to keep a slot open) is seems you have to use the slot for 80% of the year to keep it.

Would they not move some flights from LGW to LHR? Like they did with the BGI flights a while back.

Whats cheaper to run ? 5/6 year old 747's or 3/4 year old A340-600's?
David
A 346, the question isn't what is cheaper, it is what will make more profit, a fully loaded 744 is hard to beat, though not so much in the low J config off the LGW 744's

Just because the aircraft is parked doesn't mean the maintenance can be stopped, it is due on both flying hours & calender time. That said, the CAA can approve VS extending within certain limits.
Very sad news that three aircraft are to be parked up all the same.

I read in the star today that VS will be suspending the ORD and the second HKG flights over the winter.
