Torchwood. Beware - possible spoilers!

Did anyone see this? I've always dismissed it as a slightly silly Dr Who offshoot but in the last two episodes I thought they produced something rather special. Some of it showed it's lineage, and occasionally I had strong Gavin & Stacey flashbacks, but they didn't flinch from some strong scenes particularly last night with the sacrifice of the grandson and the Peter Capaldi character killing his family.

Yes, it was excellent and sometimes edge of the seat stuff!!!

The first series was a little low budget, and more of a Dr Who spin off, but it has grown so much into a very professional set up.

Now though I don't know if it will be continuing.

Yes I watched it all week. Thought it was very good overall but with one or two rather silly bits thrown in - but thats part of Torchwood.

I thought there were some really clever bits, some silly bit and a bit of a weak ending - but all in all I thought it was very good.

Mr Davies clearly has a a fantastic mind, and very strong views about politicians. Throughout his programmes all of them are self serving, arrogant, corrupt, nasty people - How on earth does he come to that conclusion? [:w][oo]

Loved it!! Great series and great decision to do it over a week.

Torchwood is generally rubbish, with characters entire personalities changing to service the plot, but Children of Earth was a bit special. Harrowing viewing in parts, with the scenes of MPs discussing what to do very chilling indeed.

Still can't understand why the 456 didn't just 'beam' up all the kids they wanted from every playground, over a school lunchtime

Would of saved a lot of hassle?

That's true, I hadn't thought of that, but there are a few questions to be honest. Such as where was the Doctor, seeing as this was such a terrible event happening on earth?

Totally agree - actually can't remember the last time I watched one programme on five consecutive days. The script could have been tightened up a bit, things like why the female cabinet member suddenly became authoritative or the lovely women in black came round so quickly. But generally very good.

Well Gwen did ask a couple of times but I think that generally that Russell T Davies wanted Torchwood to be a Dr free zone (but strangly not vice versa)

In any case it would have been a bit of a cop out to have the Dr ride to the rescue (again).

I have always enjoyed Torchwood, but the ending was a bit lame and lets not even mention that crappy Christmas Dr Who special [:w]

Not even that. One of them cleared off. I think this is closing the door on the RTD era, as I'm sure Moffatt won't want his predecessors characters popping up to disrupt continuity!!

Did a marathon of watching all five episodes back to back and loved it. Did think that there was a continuity error with Jack's 'vortex manipulator wrist strap' as I thought The Doctor disabled it after the events in the last episode (Stolen Earth')of Doctor Who.[:?]

OK, I look like a nerd, I suppose I better go back to my dark corner.[:I]

We even got it here a day after you - usually it takes about 12 months. The OH is a bit of a Dr Who, and subsequently Torchwood, fan. They were even running a competition to go to the UK and visit the set - we didn't enter as the flights were only in Y - LOL.
