Not going to affect the National Parks - which are run by the federal government and include Yosemite, Joshua Tree, Death Valley, John Muir, Alcatraz etc etc ..... still a very difficult situation, though.

Tahoe has loads of state parks around it. Most of them will only have access to the ranger station and loo facilities affected. The views and the hiking would still be there. The problem, of course, is letting the public know that they can still visit!
Most of those same parks are closed seasonally, but the locals all visit anyway, leaving cars on the road and adding a short hike to the start of their park adventure!

This is (IMHO) the problem with the publicised 'Memorial Day to Labor Day' openings. The parks aren't officially open but there is no problem with access. Locals know it, but overseas tourists don't.

Yes indeed, but there are no heroes. We live with a dysfunctional government.

Sadly have to agree w/ Chuck - district gerrymandering and supermajority budgeting makes proper deals impossible. The real issues, skewed taxation systems and hyper-generous benefits to state employees, remain unresolved. 'Til when, we don't know.
