Our original flight had us flying PE when i booked the flight back in early january when the sales were very good, but later on i paid the difference to upgrade as i just didnt want to economise and save on what was a much needed break after the busiest three months we have ever had at work[|)]!

I noticed on the itineries here on V-flyer that Migrantmark was travelling out the same day but in PE and it had been well documented that he was not, 'shall we say the most confident of fliers' so i contacted him so as to join us in the CH to calm any preflight nerves and also get to know my fellow V-fliers, and i dont mind saying what a top guy Migrantmark is just too bad it was a short encounter before his early flight out. Anyway after a frought drive to T3 in the rush hour on the M25 trying to keep to our meet & greet time, the usual weight of traffic and road works slowed us right down, to a pace that if running backwards would have actually had us gaining more ground....ahh big sigh[?]

Check in was smooth at T3 with a smily girl who made our first VS contact of the day a pleasure, she promptly checked us in and issued with tickets and so we were off to the lift where mrs V barcode wouldnt open the door and after a little que formed i used mine, went through the private channel where my wifes ticket wouldnt bleep again and in the end the attandant just let us through since it was holding up a fair que of pax[:w] sorry!!

The CH was as usual very enjoyable and they were getting ready with the birthday decorations so the staff at times did appear a tad difficult to get the eye off, but really this didnt impare too much on over all service. The food was good and mrs v enjoyed the birthday cocktail with breakfast i think? Cant remember too well after i had a welcome glass of champagnes with smoked salmon and eggs all before 9am both was excellent!

We made our way to the plane earlier than usual to see if priority boarding was in swing and it was[y] they had both bridges in operation and walked straight past the que for Y and onboard in about 1 minute of arriving at the gate[y]

Our CC were for this flight the best i have ever had the pleasure off being with and made our flight not only insightfull into the way they do things onboard with a long chat with the FSM, but also that nothing was too much for them to do which resulted in heroes forms being filled out, and emails being fired off to FC after the advice from Virginboy that emailing direct gets a better responce back to the CC concerned.
We managed to have our seats moved at checkin right up into the nose of the A zone so we were almost touching toes, which was great because you could talk to each other easily and it felt really cosy up there.
The food we chose was both the steak pie with colcannon potatoes and cabbage and i have to say it was really nice with aldente cabbage[y] I know some have said its horrible on here but i guess we were very lucky this time and as it should be[:w].
We had John Turturro on board with us which was fun to see, and certainly a celeb not Zeleb! Also sat beside unknowingly in the CH[}:)] Kate Beckinsale who OMG is perhaps the best looking girl in the world[:0].
I settled down with my first flight using my new QC3s which were awesome, i watched Gran Torino-very good, then went to the bar where one of the pax there needed to be told to go sit down, as she could no longer stand in one place or keep her decibels voice down.
After ignoring instructions the CC asked her husband to collect her from the bar which he did immediately.

We circled for ages out at sea before landing into JFK which was tipping down, the downside of this is that the immigration hall was packed from the already landed isreal, polish and god know who else planes who beat us to it, nearly 75 minutes later[V] we eventually got outta there, i swear there was more swine flu in that one immigration hall than all of mexico at its hight!

This flight left us feeling like we had such a great time that we cant wait to fly out again in sept to Miami, which is great for me as my wife really doesnt fly well after havin a bad one flying to italy, and slowly these long haul flights with VS is restoring little by little her confidence to fly again.

cheers

Sounds like a great experience, save for the dreaded JFK immigration queue / swine flu party.

Thank you for the great TR! Glad to hear you had a great flight. Rather jealous that you were in the presence of Kate Beckinsale.

Thanks for the report. Kate Beckinsdale was in due in the CH on the 30th June as well (so the B+B girl told me). Busy lady.I've no idea who John Tuturro is though.

I have no idea who either of them are even after a google [:I] If they are not in the league of Dame Judy Dench then they dont figure as being a celeb to me (as I probably wouldn't know them if I fell over them).

Good TR though so thanks for sharing.

Plug 'John Turtorro' and 'Kate Beckinsale' into imdb.com.

Kate is particularly well known for the tightness of her leather costumes in films such as 'Van Helsing' and 'Underworld', though I'm sure that doesn't detract from her acting abilities. Daughter of the late Richard Beckinsale, Lennie Godber to Ronnie Barker's Fletch in 'Porridge'.
