Do you have a photo bucket or similar account? You can host it on there and the post it as a link in a post on here if you do.

Otherwise you can use something like Microsoft Office picture manager (which come as part of the office package) to resize images, but be careful as the quality can go very poor if you resize too small.

Easy trick. Right click. Send to. Mail recipient. 'Shall I make the picture smaller?' 'ooh yes please'. Save the reduced image to disk and upload that. Tip o' the hat to LRoM for that one.

Download gimp, it is a free photo editing program, open the picture you want to shrink, use 'save as' and select the quality (size) you want to save it as. Change the file name so you don't over write the original. It may take a couple of times doing this till you get it to the correct size.

Edit: nice trick Decker, never though of going that route.

I do the email it to yourself trick as well but then save the pics in a 'reduced size' folder so they dont get mixed up with the higher quality images.

Nice tip Decker / LRoM

Apologies for the file size restrictions, but it comes from a history of being charged an arm-and-a-leg for disk space, and (as you can witness from the many photos already in the photo gallery), images just don't need to be MBs in size on the web.

Plans are underfoot to implement a new photo gallery system which can do the re-sizing for you (a bit like Facebook).

If anyone needs help resizing pictures on a Mac:

Open the picture in preview and go to Tools - Adjust Size and then 'Save As'.
