I was Silver for last year as we did a couple of UCS runs, but nothing since last June.

Just had a surprise through the door however saying that I had re-qualified and they were renewing it for another year!

I have got a UC reward booked for December and spend quite a bit on Virgin Black and have just had another Recommend a Friend through - would any of this this have anything to do with it, or is it just a mistake?

Thanks.

It only takes one upper class trip to renew silver. Could that be why? If not, just enjoy it, and display your new silver card with pride [:o)]

My wife and I have just been renewed (Silver) on 8 points (2 returns to US in economy, although last one was miles upgraded to UC)

Anecdotal evidence suggests Virgin isn't even letting semi-frequent flyers go. And in this climate, who can blame them?

I wish that was the case earlier in the year, they were especially awkward with us. Luke need to 2TP's to renew Ag, we had already completed our outboun in UC, had the UC return flight to go, just 2 days after his renewal date and they point blank refused to even consider it [V]

Do you think they might be taking other 'spend' on Virgin group companies into consideration? We use Virgin Media, I have the black card, I've glugged a few Virgin Wines, I have a Virgin ISA, VHols FV etc. Although they are separate 'companies', I'm pretty certain they will be sharing customer information.

Mmmm, very interesting.

While Ive re-qualified for Silver this year, Mrs Kered is 1 TP short of re-qualification, with her membership year ending at the end of the month (Sept). With really no possibility of earning that TP, as were not going to take a TP run on BMI DUB-LHR just to get that point.

I had wondered if perhaps VS might just give her the renewal anyway, seeing as its only 1 TP shes short. But then thought, well no they wont, why would they.

However this thread gives me some hope [y]

Believe me, they're systems aren't that advanced (and I dare say it would raise an eyebrow in the Data Protection Office).

Yes, you're probably right, although Flying Club will 'know' the source of some of my spend because I've attached the FC number to the purchase (to get the miles) - thereby giving permission for them to know (covering DPA).

I'm absolutely thrilled with Virgin

Mrs Kered was 1 TP short of re-qualifying for Silver, with her membership year ending on the Sept 30th. I had read the accounts about FC members having their status renewed, despite falling short on Tps, but didn't dare hope, that we would be as lucky. These things never happen to us.

However, I've just looked at Mrs Kered's account on the website & saw that she was still listed as silver. When I scrolled down to the activity list, I saw the following....

03 OCT 2009 Congratulations, your silver membership has been renewed

All the dates have reset & the Tps earned this year are zeroed out, along with the messsage You need 10 Tier Points by 31-Oct-10 to renew Silver

Well done Virgin, it's a small thing, but the good will this has generated is second to none, we're absolutely thrilled [y]
