Silly question, maybe, but we are flying UC in late November (3 days before the new lounge opens [I wonder if they could hurry up a bit?...], so the V-Room it is. We also have the Priority Pass card for other lounges - would this be any different / better than V-Room, or I am going to be better off straight to the V-Room without even trying anything else?

Thanks.

Having visited the V-Room, i would say you should give it a try (at least you can be fed there[}:)]). It has an excellent view of the Runway and to my mind is something that should not be dismissed without giving it the benefit of the doubt.

If you are intending to do a V-Flyer mega Clubhouse visit (i.e. 3+ Hours[:I]) I suspect that lounge fatigue will kick in and the option to then try out the others with a Gatwick Lounge Crawl could be fun[}:)]

If my company is anything to go by, any works invariably take longer than planned , so don't hold your breath for an early finish

Thanks for that Buns - yes, had planned a 'mega visit' since our limo is picking us up at 7.15 for the VS015 (perhaps a bit too early, on reflection, coming from Colchester, Essex, mind you M25 in rush hour...). Still, as you say, a lounge crawl may be in order with the priority passes. Shame no treatments as this passed half an hour, then there was the nice breakfast..... hey ho!

Thanks again - and for managing my expectations for just in case finishing early....!

I may have missed this but does anyone know if the drin ks will be free in the V-Room for those bumped from the clubhouse due to the refurbishment?

Says so here

Whether that extends to a mega visit is of course a debatable question[:?]

Oh no, please don't say that - I always had to have a 'proper' massage, it would totally relax me before flying and of course the smells of the oils .... bliss.

Just got an update on this. No new news but I am a bit sceptical by the way it gives the dates it is closed and then says it'll be open by Christmas!!

------------
LONDON GATWICK CLUBHOUSE REFURBISHMENT

We are pleased to confirm the London Gatwick Clubhouse will be refurbished during the Autumn. Unfortunately this will mean that it is closed from 1 September to 30 November 2009 whilst the work takes place.

The fully refurbished Clubhouse will reopen in time for Christmas 2009, and will include a new Cowshed spa.

During the closure passengers travelling in Upper Class and their guests will be able to use Virgin Holidays' V ROOM, located in the South Terminal. Gold card members will be able to use the No.1 Gatwick Lounge located in the South Terminal and invite a guest to join them. Upper Class and Gold card members will be handed an invite to the respective lounges at check in.

We apologise for the temporary closure of the Clubhouse but look forward to offering a greatly improved facility in December.

Is the VRoom better than the no. 1 lounge or vice versa?

We've got the choice of either and are choosing the No.1 lounge over the VRoom. Looks quieter, views are still great, decent food and drinks (free from VA) and its brand new.

I've done the Vroom before, it was full with 2 flights waiting for Orlando and about 200 kids going barmy, nice lounge at the right time of day I'm sure but mayhem and not peaceful that day!

We've got the 2nd MCO flight of the day, so hopefully VRoom should be quieter than the 200 children! Luckily I've got a Priority Pass too, so I can opt for the No.1 lounge if in need of some solace!

Not long to the closure now, could someone who uses the VRoom before next Sat please post about their experience so I know what I am letting myself in for

Just by chance I was in Gatwick waiting for for my LBA flight home, went to the Vroom for a look and was quite impressed how calm it was.

Trotted along to the Clubhouse and was pleasantly welcomed and recognised which was nice given its been 3 years since a Gatwick departure, they seemed quite excited about the refurb and said the
plans/drawings looked lovely. Shame about the shaves and haircuts going though.

My next LGW departure is 2010 so will just have to wait and see.

Try here. It isn't, however, a compare and contrast to the LGW CH (as I've never used that facility).
