In the Heathrow Clubhouse today - the 25th Anniversary Menu has apparently just been introduced.

Breakfast looks pretty much the same, but the post 11.30am menu has changed a fair bit :-

Lighter Bites

25th anniversary prawn cocktail martini.
Cold water prawns and crayfish tails, spiced avocado, cucumber spaghetti and classic cocktail sauce.

Potato and watercress soup with parmesan croutons and white truffle oil.

Simply dressed summer leaf salad with shallot, vinaigrette, garden herbs and crumbled farmers cheese.

Smoked salmon with scrambled eggs on toasted brioche.

Bigger Bites

25th anniversary duck a lorange.
Caramelised honey Barbary duck, mashed potato, orange confit and buttered spinach.

Rigatoni pasta with chorizo, fresh garden peas, rocket and pecorino cheese.

Clubhouse burger with chips, bacon, cheddar cheese and mayonnaise, tomato, gherkin and onion in a ciabatta.

Chicken tikka masala with fragrant pilaf rice and naan bread.

South coast, line-caught mackerel with warm new potatoes, fine bean and caper berry salad and stone-ground mustard seed dressing.

Baked vine cherry tomato tart with marinated feta and roasted red onions and shaved fennel and watercress salad.

Steak and Guinness pie
Slow cooked braised beef buttered mashed potato and steamed green beans.

Vegetable jalfrezi with fragrant pilaf rice and naan bread.

Naughty but nice.

25th anniversary Black Forest gateau.
Warm cubes of fudge brownie, hot chocolate sauce and sweet black cherries.

Fresh fruit salad.

Eton Mess.
Macerated strawberries, crushed meringue and whipped vanilla cream.

Selection of ice cream.

Oooh, sounds nice. I wonder if it will be possible to arrange a take-away to bring on board instead of the normal UC offering [:w]

Nick, my impression of the food last week in the CH was quite positive. I happy to like some of the old VS items such as Chicken Tikka Masala.

If the Guinness pie is anything to go by, they should really be called 'not much bigger bites'. I had the aforementioned dish in the CH last Sunday, and it comprised 2 small discs of pastry about the size of a digestive biscuit each, interspersed with a tiny cube of admittedly very tasty beef. Style over substance.

If everyone orders two/three portions each, eventually they will get the message[y]

I agree that the portions are sometimes small. But given that, ss Jacki points out, there is nothing to stop seconds (or even thirds); I don't really mind too much.

If you want a proper plateful, then I suppose the deli is the place to be - they still pile it on there, if you ask them nicely. [}:)][8D]

We're so alike [}:)] I start with a plate of charcuterie, cheese, salad, beetroot, etc. and pile it high [:w] then move onto a main from the menu [y].
