Questions - Revivals - Extra's basket - Sleepsuits

Hi everyone...I've just spent a very pleasant 2 hours reading all the flight reviews for VS005/006. As this will be our first UC (VS006) flight with VA (in Feb)please bear with me if I am asking (more!) daft questions. OK here goes...(1)in several reviews there was mention of a Revivals lounge at T3 at Heathrow for UC clients...is this included or do you have to pay extra to get in?...I only ask because we are going out PE which means we miss the Clubhouse experience so it would be nice to try Revivals on the way back. (2) what is the extra's basket? (3)Sleep-suits...good or bad? and are they for you to keep and take home?

Hi hope these answers help....

The revivals Lounge is free to use when arriving on an UC ticket.

The extras basket is usually, but not always, brought round by CC and contains mints, pen, lip gel. moisturiser, shave cream etc. this supplements the amentiy kit on your seat. Sometimes it is just left on the bar for you to help yourself[:?]

I am biased on sleepsuits as I have had a few dodgy ones recently[V]. However you are more than welcome to take them home if you so wish.

The shaving gel and razor have been removed from the extras basket. All the other items are still there though.

Hi, Don't worry about missing the CH, once you have flown UC you will be 'hooked' and it will only be a matter of time before you do it again!

GJ is the authority on amenity kits and sleep suits and I am sure he will want to join in on this particular topic. However it does appear that some sleep suits may be recycled and on occasions not clean so perhaps best avoided -a number of v-flyers prefer to change into their own PJ's rather than take the chance.

Sleep suits are polyester in the main (65%) and have been known to give off the odd blue spark [:0] (another reason many prefer their own nightwear). They are indeed 'recycled ' [:$]. Please take them home and help stop this revolting practice.

They are vile. Bring your own Paul Smith pyjamas or, if you have them, a pair from H. Huntsman & Sons, 11 Savile Row. Thank you for raising this issue as we rarely discuss sleepsuits here. [y]

You can't go to Revivals unless you are Upper Class. It's worth it, believe me. Her Grace The Lady Sarah of Mannion may be in there, singing along to the radio whilst she showers.

The extras basket is good for a pen to fill out customs forms and little else. I find it's chock full of nasty-tasting lip balm and moisturizers and unguents that hold not a candle to Eve Lom products.

Last couple of times they'd changed the moisturizer product. A slight improvement, I'd say.

I LOVED the old moisturizer - did I use it NO (I take my own creme de la mer on board) but with the name 'Cheeky Cow' printed on the side it was the perfect gift for my PA [:w]

BTW I do use the Sleep Suits but stuff them down the bin in the toilets to stop re-use (BTW never noticed a pair yet that have looked pre-owned but believe some may have from the reports on here).

And do ask at check-in if you can have paid access to the Clubhouse. They will never offer it to you but if you ask you may get lucky and get in.
This also puts you on the radar for op-ups!

The last two sleepsuits I was given had bad, obvious stains on them[:$]...as far as I'm concerned I would never ask for one again until I can be guaranteed they are new.

However, I use the soft bags that the sleepsuits come in as additional shoe bags to the one given with the kit.[y]

No, but Ive had to ask for another one after spilling a drink in my lap,I wasn't drunk honestly[:D]

thanks for all the replies....I will definitely be using Revivals/grabbing some cheeky cow moisturiser/asking for a sleepsuit - but checking it very, very carefully/and asking about the Clubhouse on the way out....I may get lucky....thanks again for all the advice and suggestions. I'm sure I'll think of somethingelse before Feb so I'll be back!!!

I seem to recall 50 quid as the sum, but ISTBC.

Normally access to the CH is done through VH, however every now and again VS will sell them, your best to check with VS before hand.

I will refrain from any Neil comments.

Around Easter time this year VS experimented with offering paid clubhouse access to those flying PE. At that time they were charging 60 per head.

Around Easter time this year VS experimented with offering paid clubhouse access to those flying PE. At that time they were charging 60 per head.

Can confirm it's still 60 if you on a VH or in PE (depending upon who is on the check-in desk when you ask!)

thanks all....guess I'll have to chat up hubby and tell him to save some more pennies so we can get into the CH ...!! ...I am definitely worth it...and if we get there early enough to nab the row 18 seats AND get the right person on check-in I should get about 3 hours in the CH which is enough for any self respecting (non Steps)person.

Don't bank on getting in though as it is subject to capacity - more than once I whave witnessed pax being turned away from purchasing entry due to it being 'full' of entitled pax - now that more airlines and Amex customers get entrance it can only be more rare for Virgin to allow purchase entry.
