Hi all,

Although the new Premium economy seat is much nicer in appearance, does anyone else think that the old seats are actually much more comfy for sleeping/resting as they include the leg support. I've found that it's virtually impossible for me to get to sleep in the new seats, but managed relatively easily to fall asleep in the old ones.

Would welcome any thoughts,

Dave

I don't know about the PE seats, but for me the old UC recaros are still the best, I am one of those people that prefers a cradle type seat to a flat bed though.

The old UC seats???!!!! Shocking, I remember thinking they were amazing the first time I sat in them (upgraded at about 15 - happy days) but lookign back they were pretty basic, and I do remember waking up around were my ankles should have been a few times..

Are you thinking of the J2000s rather than the Recaros?

Depends if you value leg room...

It depends if you mean the old old PE seats, that were upstairs on the 747's, and are still on the LGW/MAN Fleet, or the new old PE seats, that were on the A340's? My fav PE seat was the old old ones, they were really big and comfy, and if you got one at the exit row upstairs (row 75) it was heaven, never liked the ones on the A340's, too plastic looking I thought.

As for the new ones, have only flown in them once on a daytime outbound flight and I admit I didn't enjoy them at all, but, as mentioned at the time I was in a bad mood anyway(I know, me, in a bad mood, shock horror!) so think that had something to do with it, and I know they get good reviews in general.

We've just had a direct compare and contrast experience - LGW config out to BGI, LHR config back from BGI and I can definitively state that...I'm not sure. I certainly slept better on the way out, but;

- having had one beer too many (not having to drive the other end)
- being in the relative peace of the bubble

may have had something to do with that..
