I'm planning another US trip using miles, vouchers, kitchen sink etc, and just wanted to check if the fare code details per the page on this site are still valid (not that I expect it IS out of date but wanted to verify anyway). Where does this fare code info come from? I can imagine the booking agents quite possibly not being au-fait with some of the more subtle aspects of the fare code rules [?].

I'm particularly focused on the L class fares that allow me to use an Amex PE upgrade voucher against the companion ticket - which is very useful indeed [}:)].

Thanks.

Yes in the main the fare code info is correct. L is still the lowest fare code you can buy to then upgrade with miles. The agent at VS will confirm all the rules with you before you confirm the purchase anyway and they *should* know what the specifics for each code are.

The fare code info page was done by Richard Mannion, who is quite an expert on these matters.

Don't forget the AmEx upgrade vouchers are for upgrading an Economy fare bought with miles to a PE fare, so you would need a T class and the respective miles.

Some of the VS agents are not as au-fait but most should know what to look for if you specifically tell them the fare bucket. Some of the fare code guide needs updating (such as including the new R fare) but the upgradeable fares (L,B,Y,S,W) are all current.

Thanks,
Sarah
