Has anyone noticed some slightly odd behaviour around the availability of the 'View or Change Seats' facility on the VS website?

If I login in using to FC account, and go to 'Manage Your Flights' I can see my next (and only) flight. If I click the link, it brings up the detail of the booking but without the link to 'View or Change Seats'.

If I use the ticket reference to locate the booking - either inside or outside the FC login - and then go to 'Manage Your Flights' I get the detail of the booking but this time with the link to 'View or Change Seats' through which I can indeed select a different seat.

Or is it just me?

Yeah, I've noticed a a few differences like that too. Another one is when you load a booking manually, it tells you how many miles/TP's you'll earn, where as, clicking a flight from the list you don't get this info.

No - exactly the same on my booking. (using either Chrome or IE8)

Is it down to the different behaviour of browsers (Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer Banana etc)?

Perhaps someone above could try the same with a different browser?

This is the first time I have booked more than 3 months in advance and I do not see the view or change seats option either. Is the option only available if you are nearing your departure date?

I don't think so. It's not a browser issue either as I've tried Safari, Chrome and IE which all do it.

VH bookings are good examples of this as before your e-ticketed, you always have to manually enter your details to bring up your booking which does allow you to view/change your seats. Once your ticketed (about 3 weeks before departure), the flights show up on the list but the view/change seat links disappear (unless you enter the details manually then it does show the seat maps links)

Some sections of the VS website are a real pain when using Safari with Windows (Flying Club account section is one of the worst) as I often have to close Safari down and re-open it just to get the pages to load.

I have several flights booked over the next 10 months or so, and check my seats on a regular basis to see if better ones come available.

I noticed from about 3 weeks ago, the option to view/change seats wasnt there if you viewed your booking through logging in to FC first and then manage flights , but it IS there when you manually enter your booking ref & name through the retrieve booking option, without logging in first.

Oooh, thanks for that tip off. I had just assumed that the 60% of pre-allocation had been reached when it disappeared. Just checked and voila! there it is for all to see.

I've had this for a recent booking as well. I can change seats with the booking reference No (but only the inbound) and can't see the seat change option when looking through my FC account. Also for some reason it hasn't allocated me a seat on the outbound trip and won't give me an option to select a seat either! [:#] my flights have been confirmed so this is rather odd!

That's where I started with this. I was checking to see whether they'd swapped the flight (VS1) from a 346 to 343 (as is said to be happening) so I could make sure that if that happened I got seats forward of the bar area. It's MrsPJHs and my first UC flight together, and a surprise for her birthday. When we travelled on a 343 back from ORD earlier this year she opined that if she ever travelled UC she'd feel a bit cheated to have one of the seats behind the bar. So when the seat option vanished I began to feel a bit edgy as I wondered whether it was (a) aircraft change and (b) 60% full.

And ditto, I noticed this a couple of flights ago and let's hope VS have too (has anyone told them?).

Yes there is something wrong !!, if the seat link is missing , click on edit your profile Ie: fc number etc. Then just save it without changing anything and the link will be there like magic [:D]

There obviously is something wrong with the VS system,[n] Mrs Chumba and i are flying together but on different PNR's, in my FC account the seat selection is missing, in her's it is availabe.

If i find my flight using the PNR and not the flight as listed i get the seat allocation bit ! [:?]
