Just got back from two sectors on g-vhot. muist say the UC cabin looks absolutely knackered. Carpets are worn, individual pods( cabins) are patched up and generally looked really shabby. a real shame and i personally think it sadly doesnt reflect well on VS

Flew on G-VHOT last week and can't say I noticed any worn carpets or anything patched up or shabby.

Been on VHot and noticed masking tape keeping the side of a suite together, seemed it had been prized open cause the controls were dodgy.

I noticed a fair bit of 'patch painting' on a number of the painted walls in the suite pods last time I flew on G-VHOT.

You would probably have to look for them as crew, but they are more obvious when sat in the seat - little squares of paint of a different finish, or slightly different shade. They are often around the table or monitor stowage.

One thing I'm pleased G-VHOT didn't have is the build up of fluff, dust, bits and other 'cheese', which accumulates where the painted wall of the suite meets with the pale brown coloured leather seat surround. This is one of the most disgusting bits about the suite design.

I didn't think it was otherwise worn out, just dirty in places, on my flight.

Perhaps not really shabby, but I flew on VHot, VS45 to JFK a month ago and I did notice tiredness. Unlike Mike, the fluff was also evident!

Many plane's suites now have chunks of fibreglass missing, especially around the monitors, as well as scuffs and rips etc. They're beginning to remind me of AA's old, masking tape secured, interiors. Inevitable after a while and some suites must be what, four or five years old now?

I've just checked in my Trip Report archive and found out that our first flight in the suites was on V-ROC in 2004. They had been announced in 2003 and we had been disappointed that the re-fits had not begun when we took our flight to SFO a few weeks later - so, yes, you are correct.
