I had an e-mail from Virgin America advising that my flight from LAS connecting to my SFO VS20 flight home has been put back by half an hour, now arriving at SFO at 14.55, for the 16.55 departure.

A few of questions pelase:

Is this 2 hours window enough to check in (travelling UC) comfortably (This time of year, December, sometimes there are fog/weather delays)?

How far from landing at SFO to departures/check in for my VS flight?

Will I have to pick my bags up from carousel or will they be tagged straight through for my onward flight?

Will I get Virgin miles for the VX flight?

Thank you!

Here goes...

1. Yes, provided there are no delays and everything goes smoothly, but don't hang around though. If it's the VX901, used that in May and even though there was a delay, I made it with bags of room to spare, but was still glad to get to the CH.
2. Once you have collected your baggage, head upstairs and it's about a 2 minute walk.
3. You can ask, but as there is no offical interlining agreement, you may have no choice.
4. Nope. No FC miles for VX at the moment.

Thank you for that - my flight is the VX251.

Fog's a morning deal at SFO, you should have no issues there. Delays can of course happen for operational reasons. But as Darren said, you should have plenty of time. You will arrive upstairs, in the departure area, will need to run down to pick up the bags and back up to check in. Ten minutes, tops. If yo do OLCI, you can make it in an hour.

I did this connection again last month, 2 hours really is plenty of time even if you did have say an hour delay.
I had loads of time so paid $35 to access the clubhouse before flying onto Vegas, was worth every penny as I got a shower and freshened up so I was ready to go as soon as I got to Vegas rather than messing about there. Naturally I still had plenty of time on the SFO clubhouse after the shower so some drinks were consumed [:)]
