She will be able to check in no problem, all flights are open when check in opens. Same with the CH, she will have plenty of time to enjoy all its delights.

She need not worry. I did like wise earlier this year and next week my connecting flight arrives at 8:45am for a 3:45pm departure.

Don't forget to book a treatment in the Clubhouse for her. She can book any time from 8 weeks before departure

i sent an email to customer services to clarify the situation and got this reply
Thank you for your email.

The earliest time your mother will be able to check in for her flight will be 3 to 4 hrs prior to the flight departure time. Hence she won't be able to check in and go to the lounge on arrival at 8 am.

I hope I have been able to clarify some of our procedures and am sorry to disappoint you on this occasion. Thank you for contacting Virgin Atlantic.

Kind Regards

is this just a standard reply or will they not let her check in?
thanks

What you have received is a standard reply and shows that the person replying does not know thier product[:(!]

There are many V-Flyers who can personally testify that they have arrived at Heathrow far earlier than 3 - 4 hours before their flight in UC and have not been prevented from checking in.

Rest assured, what others already have said here is correct and based on personal experience[;)] Remember to book that treatment.

I know I've checked in more than 5 hours before a flight before, and been in the clubhouse for over 5 hours, so you can probably ignore the 'offifial' email response.

I'm thinking we should have a Top Gear style table, for the longest stay.......

Looks like the standard boiler plate answer. You can see from their point they dont want the CH clogged up with people for hours on end and so hope the 3 - 4 hour 'limit' will put most, but not all, people off.

Hope she enjoys her visit

You could check in online and print off the boarding card, then she just has to drop off her luggage upon arrival... less of a chance of them being funny, perhaps?

Just to re-iterate. My flight arrived early at LHR and at 9am I was at the CH for a 3:45pm flight. Not a word was said other than 'Oooh, plenty of time to enjoy the Clubhouse then'

Crikey when we fly to dubai at 9pm we always get into the clubhouse for about 12-1pm so we can have a full day relaxing.

cheers

That is very reassuring. When we booked our flight to HKG next March, we were due to leave at 16.35 so booked and paid to stay at the Skyline the night before.

Now of course that flight is no more, and we fly at 21.45 but have to be out of the Skyline by mid-day. So can I assume the Clubhouse staff will be accommodating if we're there for 8 hours or so???!!!!

Everytime I fly UC I always make sure I have plenty of time to enjoy the CH. Going to DXB a few years back had me in the CH for around 8 hours! When I arrived nothing was said and sat back and relaxed

My trip home in November will be my last UC flight for a long time as relocating back home to SYD. So I will be in the CH for a few hours and have no worries getting there early.

Hope your mother enjoys her time there.
