Saw a recent article trumpeting the 777 service from LAX-SYD on Virgin Australia; has anyone any knowledge of what the route/service is like, or how it compares pricewise to what's available LHR-HKG-SYD etc?

Thanks.

Jetstreamer I believe did do a flight and made a TR which can be found here.

I am not sure of what class you are looking to fly in however if they do not have the same J seats as UC.

On the whole I have heard good things about V Australia and the crew are fantastic (IIRC mainly DJ staff who transferred).

Price wise I am not sure, however given the competition on the route there always seems to be a good fare on offer. They do have some sale fares on at the moment and I guess if you can combine this with a good price to LAX on VS or even NZ then you will be laughing.

I did hear they were launching a NAN service also, to replace the current DJ service, however I cannot find reference to this on their site and may have gotten confused with Pukhet which they are starting (as well as JNB).

Do we have access to LAX-SYD fares? From the UK site it doesn't look like it?

Not sure what you mean by access. If you go on the V Australia website I believe you can book. I say this because when living in NZ a couple of years back, the DJ website was accepting UK and NZ registered cards for Australian internal flights.

I've tried going on to the Australian site and booking SYD-LAX but it only offers me routing via LHR, and then I tried going on the US site and booking LAX-SYD but again it would only offer me a routing via LHR. Why am I not offered the most logical routing???[?]

When you say you are going to the Australian site do you mean the Australian site on the Virgin Atlantic website? If so that will give you a routing via LHR. You need to go to the Virgin Australia website. Virgin Australia is a separate company

I can get the SYD-LAX-SYD route to work by going to the Aus site, however can't seem to get LAX-SYD-LAX to work, by trying to go via the Virgin US site which still seems to only want to route me via LHR.

As I said, I can now get a SYD-LAX-SYD price when using SYD as the origin (using the Aus site), but the Aus site doesn't offer LAX as an origin (not particularly surprising), however if I go to the US SITE, it DOESN'T offer me a direct LAX-SYD route/price but DOES offer me a routing via LHR...[?]

I've just gone into the US site of http://www.vaustralia.com and I can book a direct LAX-SYD-LAX flight. It also offered me a routing to Sydney via Brisbane but nothing offered via LHR.

Ah, perhaps it's because I went to the US site from the UK site? I'll try again.

There is no UK page for V Australia.

For their US site use - http://www.vaustralia.com
For their Aussie site use - http://www.vaustralia.com.au

Sorry, I meant Aussie site![:I]
