We've been asked to quote for some s/w work in Sofia, Bulgaria. Does anyone have any experience of working in Bulgaria/things to watch out for etc etc???
Despite Bulgaria being part of the EU, setting up and working in Bulgaria is a very tedious proceedure and frawt with pitfalls, and many of the business laws etc are very state orientated.
Corruption is still very obvious and an evil necessity to get things done.
The country's political stabilty is key to any business model you wish to start with, if there is no stabilty, there is no systematic control and politicians own agendas are still very much a factor than the people they represent.
Having worked and still work in Eastern Bloc countries I have had plenty of incidents to make we wary enough.
But it can be done especially if you have a local partner that you can trust.
