Good Morning from the VRoom in Gatwick

Well we arrived here 20 minutes ago for our flight to Antigua and I've had a sausage roll (with brown sauce which everyone knows is the only way to eat a sausage roll - Oooopss, I feel a debate coming on) and a pain au raisan washed down with a latte and I have to say the whole experience is very nice.

OK its not a clubhouse as you have to pay for the booze but for somewhere to sit down relax and watch the world go by (in planes of course) I don't think you can knock it.

Of course my view may be skewed slightly by the fact we're out of school holiday periods and it might be a bit early for the hoards to be checking in for MCO but if you are wondering whether its OK here my vote would be yes.

Thought I'd post this now as I know there have been a few debates in the past and wanted to add my honest opinion.

Anyway see you all in a weeks time and the obligatory TRs.

All drinks are free for upper class passengers just shown your boarding pass. Gold members if not in upper have to use The no 1 lounge do not know if they have to pay for drinks or not. [:D]

I know this has been asked before, though I do not think there was an answer available at the time. Has anyone who has been entitled to both the V-room and the No 1 Lounge used both on the same day. If so what did they think of both venues?

I think I am right in saying the V-Room allows the use of the Fast Track security. How does this work? All I have from VH is a voucher for the V-Room

You are correct, it does allow use of Fast Track. The check in agent should put a sticker on your boarding pass when they issue it, you might just have to mention/show your voucher if they don't do it automatically.

I read somewhere it was hard to find the v-room, where exactly is it?

Irrespective of my views on the V Room , I have to say the only way to eat a sausage roll is with tomato ketchup [y]not the disgusting thing that is brown sauce [n] [:D]

I don't remember it being difficult to find. I wish I could help with more precise instructions, but I just followed the map you should have / will be given. I have a vague memory of it being over to the left hand corner of the terminal as you exit security and then up in the lifts.

It does. However, in my experience it's chuff all use as Fast Track isn't always open first thing. That said, the actual Security has been a breeze the times we've been through.

Fast Track is open from 7am until 2pm. Normal security won't be that busy early doors, but if your flight is midday/early pm then it could come in handy.

Ok thanks, on the voucher VH sent it says See V ROOM card in ticket wallet for exact lounge location at Gatwick. I didnt get a card.

I'm sure I will find it - I will ask at check-in. Just don't want to waste time as I feel I need time to eat 2 sausage sandwiches, 1 with brown sauce, 1 with ketchup.

I am firmly in the NO sauce camp!

Flew out on 20/10 on VS15 to MCO. We could use both as I surprised Mrs S and Miss S with U/C and I am an AU.

Poked my head into the V Room and then asked to see the One Lounge as I thought it was a bit 'gaudy'. I know I will get shot down for this, but I thought it looked 'cheap', and not a premium product (but then again I don't suppose it is meant to be). Nice Virgin lady (if you can put it that way !) took us round to the One Lounge and showed us around.

We decided to stay there. Went upstairs and had a very passable bacon baguette (well, 2 actually as I was peckish) and Miss S had pancakes whilst sitting on some sofas. It was very quiet and is more geared to the older traveller / business traveller.

When leaving we had to go to the V Room again as the toilets were being refurbished in the One Lounge. Mrs S stated that she preferred the V Room !

So there, you have it - visited both in one day and one vote for V Room and one vote for One Lounge.

As they say, there is no accounting for taste.

I did take a couple of pictures of both on my Blackberry - once I work out how to do it I will post them on here.

PS Had trouble in the summer coming back from MIA in U/C with the seat - and a few other things. A few days before this flight 20k miles were thrown my way (probably because no-one had bothered to answer my email until I chased it up). Blow me down, I settle into my U/C seat this time, and no electrics work!

Is it just my luck, or is the fleet going to pot? To be honest, as I spent my hard earned cash I was none too pleased. Cabin Crew were very good, but each time I wanted to change the position, they had to manually crank the seat. Flat bed 'was a 2 man job' so I didn't bother.In all conscience, no matter how accomodating the crew were I couldn't ask them to do it half as many times as I would normally move the seat. Of course, the table wouldn't come out without a fight either. For tea, I just gave up and sat with Mrs S. If I wanted a cramped seat I would have booked Y !

Cabin crew filled in a form and offered 8k miles, although that is not even half a CDC now.
