Wer'e flying PE to Orlando 3rd January from Gatwick and due to booking later than normal have not been able to reserve any seats in the bubble for either outward or return flight.

Has anyone flown downstairs in PE? Various reports on here - some good some bad - should we try to switch seats to upstrairs if there are any available at on-line check-in?

If you can change to upstairs then do, it is very nice upstairs. However if you can't downstairs isn't all that bad, there's only 2 rows (and to be fair they do need to be filled if it's full!) so it's still quiet, you've got upper in the cabin in front and only 3/4 rows of economy in the cabin behind.

You could try and get the exits seats upstairs, if you can be first to check-in, or twighlight check-in seeing as you're going from LGW and they should be avaliable.

Thanks - we normally fly upstairs in 79 A&C - our favourite seats - so this will be the first time after dozens of flights upstairs. Worried about return flight downstairs being so close to galley and not being able to sleep!

More seats including those upstairs should become available when OLCI opens and in fact people have experienced this an hour or two beforehand. Check then and do OLCI and you may find yourselves lucky

I agree with Lizz, try for the Exit Row seats upstairs at airport check in. These are really good seats with even more leg room than the usual PE seats, and def my favourite PE seats on the LGW/MAN fleet.

Thanks for the advice - do you now have to pay extra for exit row seats in PE? From the Virgin-atlantic website, it looks like you do. Also looks like the front half of the bubble is reserved for Virgin Holidays passengers - I presume any free ones of these become available to anyone at OLCI?

You don't have to pay for PE exit row seats.

In theory any fee seats become available at OLCI but it us nut always the case depending on how many/what type if pax are still to be allocated seats (families etc). Always worth doing OLCI though.

All the seats in front of the emergency exit, apart from the 4 bulkhead seats, always seem to come available at OLCI.

Provided you are ready at your Pc at T-24h, you should easily find a spot in the bubble.

Done the bubble, (79 A&C funily enough) and done downstairs. Really liked upstairs but downstairs was a bit of a let down. So much so, that if there were no seats upstairs available I would rather be back in Y .

You may also find that due to the odd behaviour of the VH / VS relationship that seats become available upstairs close to, or at, OLCI time. The forward part of the bubble seems to always be greyed out for seat assignment pre OLCI, and so on previous occassions I've grabbed seats at the rear of the cabin only to find myself moved forward at OLCI, thus (presumably) freeing up seats at the rear..

Yes the front section of PE in the bubble is reserved for VH customers now, this really annoys me :(
I book over the phone now and ask the agent to reserve my seats upstairs there and then (Not guaranteed of course) but it worked for me :)
