I find it ironic to be honest, and if anything a bit desperate or churlish...

The Contour design flying with the other airlines removes a lot of the design issues which troubled the UCS... Such as the ridiculous cocktail tray table for people with their arms coming out of their back, the complex tv adjustment arm, the pathetic excuse for an armrest on the A340, the fragile finishes which wear poorly, the recalcitrant tray tables, and the reading lamps which serve to dazzle the person sat opposite you rather than illuminate the thing you're trying to read.

Having flown on the Contour-marketed design, I find it superior to the UCS in most respects, except maybe for the lack of 'guest seating' on the ottoman - which purely serves as a foot stool on the Contour design.

No wonder VS are sore - their competitors didn't get the same seat, they got a better one - potentially at VS expense if their complaint is shown to be valid.

Not sure what the point of this is, other than it smacking of Ryanair-like activity ... hasn't it been through the system once, and trademark laws are potentially complex, and costly, to fight.

Also, I hope it isn't why some of the UC seating isn't being repaired. TRs seem to feature more frequent comments currently about broken suites, tables, chips in the fibre and general shabbiness ... I was hoping that might have led to some secret suite-upgrade!

It has been around before and the High Court kicked it out but now the Court of Appeal has kicked it back in so there must be some merit in the claim.

When VS wins its 'millions' in out of court settlements do you think it will benefit its loyal regular customers in any way ? (just watch the language in the replies to this one)
