Well found Tink - so looks like all our moaning/complaining about the breakfast/lack of it in PE on 'shorthaul' (thought VS claimed they did not do shorthaul!) was/is a waste of time as nothing has changed in a year!
I will definately take my own food for breakfast next time and ask for a piece of fruit from them to go with it!

liked this one from 9/08 in that original thread - shows not much changes:

'Those of you who have paid the extra 500 on top of the economy price to sit in (what is for me) the uncomfortable PE seat for an extra banana or apple or granola bar for breakfast and food served on white crockery, may think you've got the deal of a lifetime, but for me you don't get much for much more than for what is purely cosmetic'

I concur, though, (oh hypocrisy!) am flying PE in 2weeks. its all the company would pay for!
am gonna see if I can wangle an upgrade with my miles. smile, ask nicely, cross fingers.

[oo] Thanks Tink [y]

I have to say, I totally disagree about Virgin PE being worth the extra cash. You just have to look at what you get with Virgin PE compared to BA WT+ and you can see what a much better product it is.

Do you mean you think..

a) PE is worth the cash and is a better product than WT+
b) PE isn't worth the cash and is a better product than WT+
c) PE is worth the cash and is a worse product than WT+
d) PE isn't worth the cash and is a worse product than WT+

Your public awaits...[:w]

I suppose that PE on US routes may be getting worse, but on its African routes it definitely is worth every penny. And the warm breakfast (usually an egg dish of some sort) is definitely appreciated. There are of course those who sleep through breakfast and then wake up when the crew is busily stowing away things in preparation for landing, so they do get a cold breakfast (i.e. fruit, yoghurt, etc).

I would never consider switching back to Y on VS... Sorry. The benefits I have in PE (especially with the new luggage allowance doubling the amount of luggage allowed in PE) are worth every penny.

For me I will now only book PE if I know I am on a Jumbo, as PE in the bubble, even with the old style seats from LGW is still a pleasure.

The size of the seat and extra recline to me is worth about an extra 10% on ecomonomy prices only. The priority bags is nice, if you are travelling with luggage and they are indeed priority, but even if not, the extra wait is likely less than 10 mins. The food is the same **** as Y. The extra apple can be bought for 30p. The Champagne is now a crappy sparkling wine which I guess can be bought for 6 a bottle and you only get one glass. The after dinner drink is appreciated. If travelling Y I still get to use PE checkin as I am silver.

Now BA might not have priority luggage and as they dont use the bubble on thier Jumbo's it has to be compared to VS downstairs and BA wins for me for these reasons:-

You get you help yourself of the CW goodie table at the back of CW
The seats are far more comfortable with might nicer head rest thingys.
I love the noise cancelling headphones.
But more important than anything else is I can book the cheapest sale price WT+ fare and use my miles to upgrade to CW which is usually available.

And just a note, to date 14 legs in PE and never got an upgrade. 6 legs in WT+ and 2 upgrades.... Lucky me, but it makes me think next time I book.

exactly. this is what VS has to work out - how we can pay for a PE flight of any class, and use miles to upgrade. maybe the miles cost might vary by class, but I completely concur with Col, that I'd book with BA WT+ over VS PE anytime for this upgrade facility.

oh, and this should make VS think more than it does us...

PE is only in the Bubble from the LGW/MAN fleet now - has gone from LHR fleet totaly.

Ah, so can't even get the new seats in the bubble - another reason not to.......

You get the new seats downstairs. Upper Class is in the bubble along with a short section up front.

The new PE seats are only fitted on the LHR fleet not the LGW fleet - they have a mixture of the previous two 'older' versions.

The food in PE is different to what is found in Y and is served in china dishes with metal cutlery.

I disagree. Apart from a bread roll selected from a basket, rather than served on a plastic tray, I find the food EXACTLY the same. Agreed there is metal cutlery, but the china dish is pretty similar to a foil tray - same lid etc....

It is different, IIRC there are three options, not two, different food, extra items including the bread of course as well as the way it is served.
