I've been waiting for my miles for my purchase and nothing has appeared, so I was browsing the Virgin site to see if there's anything to suggest it may take a while, and I came across

This quotequote:you'll earn 10 Flying Club miles for every 1 you spend when you pre-order your duty free shopping from Retail Therapy, online. Minimum 20 spend applies.

But go into the site and read the help and it says

quote:Can I earn Flying club points for online purchases? Unfortunately you cannot. You have to phone.

Well, that's not clear, who reads the help section unless they need help? There's a banner saying Earn 10 miles for every pound spent, but no comment about having to phone.

Anyone know which answer is correct?

Well at least you have answered a question that I had[y]

I seemed not to get any miles for online duty free purchases, so looks like their banner is a little misleading if you ask me[:(!]

Well I'll be on the phone tomorrow then. Ok, it's not many miles when you need thousands for an upgrade, but it all helps!

I've got the miles in the past for all phone pre-orders over 20, normally credited to the FC account early in the month following the flight you collected the order on.

I have no choice but to order by phone as I normally want to order tobacco, which the EU rule cannot be ordered online, even if you pick it up in person on the flight.

A phone call to the pre order team earlier, and the miles are now in my account. They say you do get miles for online orders, and they'll investigate why the help page says you don't. So, a result [y]
