Virgin Flight Paths

Hi there im wondering if any of you guys can help me,

I came back from Hong Kong on Virgin a little while ago on the VS201 and on the flight map on the plane it showed that we were supposed to fly in over Essex and into Heathrow but when we came in to land I noticed loads of lights bellow which I assumed was London, however we then came in over the M25 and landed passing T5 so therefore can't have come in over London. My question to you is, Does anybody know what flight paths or routes Virgin fly over the UK, for example I know that often flights to Heathrow will circle over Biggin Hil however I'm interested to know where I would have flown over comming in from Hong Kong as I didn't fell like the aircraft turned for landing at any point and the map on the TV suggeted that we would be flying in over London.

I think a lot depends upon direction of approach, traffic levels, wind direction, runway etc at the particular time of your flight. The CAA website should have some general London area charts you can view.

Imap often shows the logical route, rather than the actual.

When we came in from HKG 2 years ago, because we were so early we came in over Windsor as it was too early to fly over London as it was before the curfew. So as Jpcox1 said it depends on the time, air traffic etc.

Unless a crew member on here was on that flight and remembers?

I did think that yes we had flown in over Berkshire and Windsor however I didn't feel the aircraft bank or anything for landing so thats just the main thing thats puzzeling me, It could be that we came in gradually and did a sort of semi-circle over middle England??????????
