Paying for access to the LHR Clubhouse

Hello to all V-Flyer's once again! [:D]

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience in paying for access to the clubhouse at LHR in the past? My friend and I will be flying in January to NYC in PE. We've already spoken to VS and they said it would be 60, which you pay on the day, meaning there's no guarentee, correct?

Yep - no guarantee but if it is quiet at that time on the day then they may allow access for 60 per pax for a period of time - I have been behind paying customers when trying to enter and they informed (all too loudly I thought) that they were allowed 2 hours but no treatments.

IIRC the only way to guarantee access as a paying guest is to add this to your holiday booking with VH and this must be part of a flight and accomodation package.

If a paying guest through VH then there is no time restriction that I am aware of and you are certainly allowed to book treatments in advance.

That is correct, but VS have been offering paid CH access to none UC/Au/VH voucher holding guest, on quiet days, but it is strictly capacity limited.

I forgot to ask if anyone knew if there was a time limit when paying.

Well, my flight is at 1200, so we'd be arriving pretty early in the morning. Hopefully, it'll be pretty quiet around that time...

When I took advantage of paid for access to the CH at Easter I was told politely and firmly that pre-booking was only available to Au card holders and those on UC tickets. It may have been different for those on the VH scheme though.

Shame it's going away though.

We paid for Chris a couple of months ago. There was no time limit and he got a haircut without a problem.

Well I know I heard the Virgin rep correctly (he was very loud indeed [:w]). I can only assume the Clubhouse was going to get busier later (I was there early) and as I couldn't even get a treatment I was not suprised by his comment regarding those either. Or it was extra quiet on your stay.

Either way it shows that is is as inconsistent as the rest of the premium Virgin service. [:w]

Remember there are a lot of flights that leave in the morning and the Clubhouse can get very busy. It may well be quiet when you get there but the people at the entrance will have details on their touch screens of the number of UC passengers and Au members expected, so arriving early is no guarantee of being allowed in as a paying guest.
