I much prefer the 747... I know it's silly, but the fact that we still don't know why the Air France one dropped into the Atlantic in June, bothers me a bit. Give me safety over IFE anytime. (Yes I know it's not exactly the same model, but they share the majority of airframe parts and tech.)
My flight last month was freezing outbound (LHR) too! so much so that before and just after take off the cc were handing what limited supplies of duvets they had as everyone was complaing.
The flight from Miami started cold (3hrs) then got warmer, the answer from one of the cc was that all cc can adjust the temp up front so if a pax in Y says they are getting hot somebody will turn it down in case that turns out to be the case for everyone?
Surely these craft should be set to an ambient temp, and no one except the fsm should have the authority to change it???
cheers

P.S regards the OP i completely agree with rod over the 346 V 747, i would take the 747 A Zone any day over the 346, not that i would change travel arrangements though, but rod did put across an excellent case for why the 747 is a nicer overall experience. [y][y]

The rule is that only the FSM/CSS can change the temperature.

I thought the captain had the overall control but CC could amend that by +/- 1 or 3 degrees?

There's a plane at JFK, to fly you back from far away
all those dark and frantic transatlantic miles

There is a master switch in the flight deck but the temperature in the cabin is controlled by the FSM/CSS.
Also worth noting that the aircraft is separated into different zones for temperature so changing the temperature in one part of the cabin will not affect a different part of the aircraft.
