Waste pipe maintenance changes from airline to airline. Not sure about nowadays but VS used vinegar followed by flushing crushed ice down the lines. Other airlines remove sections of pipe periodically for deep clean. The now departed CX A346 also had a galley waste system that disposed of tea, coffee etc into the toilet tank.

Blocked toilets & toilet pipes is every Engineers nightmare!!!

I recall one young apprentice (funnily enough we called him Fruit Bat) that removed a waste tank dump valve WITHOUT checking the tank was empty!!! He never did that again....
