This area is set aside for off-topic discussion. Everything that's absolutely nothing to do with travel at all... But please, keep it polite! Forum netiquette rules still apply.

Cough [;)] I NEVER ssid it didnt exist. I thought that thread was more concerned about UC travel rather than 'off topic' [:w]

Anyhow back to elitism. It does exist, it is part of life, as this forum is part of many of our lives then it should reflect that aspect - surely ? [:?] If it didnt then that would be another expicit form of elitism surely [:w][|:)]

BTW it also helps to have a sense of humour (Richard knows me and mine very well [y])

To be fair the thread in question was more to do with elitist comments that might put people off posting joining or continuing to use this wonderful site. I seem to remember my highbrow/elitist remarks were not well recieved by your goodself on one of my trippies and that even came with a caveat that I was only joking and for readers to read it in the form of parody. Like you say a sense of humour was required but only for yourself it seems.

Back on topic, thanks for the heads up, I will go see if there is any Bolly left at the Harrogate store it will come in handy for staff gifts.

Ladies, it's handbags at 10 paces and then Katie bar the door...

NEIL -- You're whinging. Stop it. Please.

EGG -- Try to let ancient bygones be bygones. Please.

I have an idea. Instead of handbags, why not handshakes and a pint of rancid, room temperature mild down Dr. Vipond's Bar & Entrail Shack?

For those that missed out - there is a 40% off coupon at Thresher's that is hitting the headlines.

The coupon is at http://www.stormhoek.com/webcoupon123.pdf

It is getting a mixed reaction FT but 40% off all wine and champagne sounds good to me.

Ummmm, Nick, didn't that expire in 2006? [:D]
I thought Threshers had gone out of business this year anyway?!

Cheers

[y] OK but if my post was read in its entirity FIRST it was very clear that things like trip reports are in the OPEN forum for all to read and 'off topic' are in restricted access where posters/readers generally know each other and, IMHO, can have fun amongst friends rather than alienate a potential new member. However I am sorry if I offended Richard or Neil with my post [:I]

Apples and Oranges and all that - now I will shut up and move on as life is far too short for this busy, busy man planning GJ's visit to UK [:w]

As opposed to your previous advice to deal with a situation head on and get it over with!

If someone comes accross as a condescending prig I am afraid EGG will say so from now on, thanks anyway.

That's entirely your right, sir. I cannot deny that one little bit!

Not to worry, Sainsburys have now started: 14 for Lanson, Piper, Heidsieck Monopole Blue, and a few others.

Wonder if the normal buy 6, get 5% off applies :)

It usually does.... (and as a 'veteran' of said chain I get a further 10%...slurp)

I've heard a rumour of a further 25% off if you buy 6 or more bottles. Certainly for wine, not sure if it is extending to Fizzies.

Our local Nottingham Morrison's had run out, but the one at Sutton in Ashfield had loads of Bolly. [;)][8D]
