After a good trip away comprising of two nights in Boston (new W hotel is very good; B&G Oysters was fantastic too!)and the rest of the time celebrating thanksgiving with Jacqui's parents in New Haven, CT, it was definitely time to come home [}:)]

I haven't flown out of Boston before and can't believe a major airport has to rely on shuttle buses to get between terminals, the rental stop and the subway. After a trip in the Sesame Street shuttle, (going through the alphabet of terminals as VS fly from E), we reached the check in. Seeing as VS only have one flight a day, I was very impressed with the effort that they had gone to with regards to tensabarriers and marking each class seperately. The checkin staff were very efficient and invites for the lounge swiftly issued.

The Boston immigration guys were supremely friendly and wished us well on our journey. The clubhouse is after security which is always a bonus and a quick elevator ride downstairs is required. The lounge was fairly busy and is self service. A good selection of wines and spirits available and the clam chowder was far superior to the 'authentic' soup I had purchased at Quincy Market earlier in the trip! Time passed very quickly, probably due to the excellent 2007 Alsace Gewurztraminer 'Hugel' available!

Onto the flight very quickly and once again the premium classes were full. My parents were in PE and had a small incident with someone reclining at the speed of light as soon as the seatbelt signs went off. I'm all for reclining on a night flight, but slowly and gently is polite (and would have saved my father's crushed knees!).. Upper class was absolutely full as well - our assigned FA was provided excellent service despite the heavy load.

I slept all the way through the flight and all too soon it was time for a descent into LHR. I like a big jug of coffee in the morning, but UC only get a little cup full [:(!] unlike the paper tankard in PE! Took ages to find a stand at Heathrow, but we eventually made it and whizzed through security, collected our bags and found our Tristar driver ready to take us back to Taplow.

I love Boston airport, agree that the bus to the terminals is interminable at times, but the airport itself has a lovely feel.

Thanks for the TR. I so agree with you about reclining seats - I get very close to air rage when it happens, particularly if I have a cup of coffee on the tray at the time that ends up in my lap!

I was introduced to the Boston Clubhouse by Nottingham Nick - a frequent visitor by all accounts[}:)]

I too can vouch for the Clam chowder there being top notch[y][y] The facility may be small but the service is as good as it gets.

Why is it that some people totally forget their manners the moment they step aboard an aircraft[:?]

Thanks for the TR

The BOS CH, for all it lacks in outside views and the full hot food service of the other Clubhouses on the network, is a nice facility with smashing staff. On my last visit there - can't believe it was as long ago as May last year - the waitress worked really hard, and the Clubhouse/Station Manager (I think they may be the same person in BOS?) was really pleasant and took time to wish everyone a pleasant flight as a discreet means of rounding up remaining stragglers once the flight had been called.

I think BOS has become one of the better downline stations on the VS network for being well organised and smoothly run. I can't remember whether it's Swissport or Servisair who run that station for VS these days.

For those who didn't know, you can get hot drinks by the mug in Upper Class, though I think even UC mugs pale into insignificance when compared to the mug I picked up at the Boeing Everett factory tour store.

Thanks for the TR. I'm so jealous of people who can effortlessly sleep through a flight and just wake up somewhere else!
