My guess is that this actually has to do with the changing menu. It just doesn't make sense that on the one hand they believe they can treat 20% more when on the other they are now creating a free for all where anyone in the lounge has to fight for a treatment regardless of ticket class/status.

The new menu at LGW has treatments that last longer than the 15 minute ones so that means that less people will be seen if more people pay for an 'enhanced treatment'. I also note that there is no limit on the number of treatments so one person could be there for as long as they like, not giving someone else a chance at having a treatment. Perhaps the feel they have more chance of upselling these products in person...

So here is how it works for the GB top flyers. We would go via the personal account team and they would make the booking for me. As i understand anyhow on the day within flight time slots each spa would try to look at the flying club status on the walk ins if there are a lot of people for that flight slot wanting treatments. Personally I am sad that the haircut service is dying rapidly , however charging for some services is fine, as the quality is usually very good.

Now Sean, it's interesting to note that VS didn't respond to this point when I made it on their Facebook profile - I wonder why. [:w]

An unconscionable act of indifference on their part. [V] More and more, this feels like war...

So as we're on the VS200 in March - which I believe is one of, if not the last flight(s), are we likely to get a haircut or different treatment? We'll be there from around 2pm so plenty of time.[}:)]

Richard they also ignored my post on the discussion board. I emailed someone at CS and got pretty much the same response with an added 'I'm sure you'll have no trouble getting an appointment, if you do please let me know.' I said I'd give it a try, explained the pointlessness of this idea that I might get a haircut before a meeting etc. Strangely no response to that!

The girl who cut my hair on Sunday said I wasn't the first person who had bemoaned the removal of pre-booking a haircut, She said that most of the female passengers she'd done recently (and were aware of the changes) were really unhappy about the uncertainty of getting/not getting a cut /blow dry.

I an assure you (and the girl that cut your hair) that this equally applies to the MALE population too (and in my experience is much more booked and used by male pax than female ones) [:(!]

BUT I booked one yesterday for later this week [y]

Have you just made it though or did you have this booked for months[:?]
Because if HG and yourself have just booked, why is that they are saying no prebooking?[?]

HG has already pointed out that those flyers who are fortunate enough to be in the level above Au are still able to book treatments.

I'm guessing because I booked it weeks ago - I'm assuming that if I'd tried it now they'd tell me to bugger off. Really though they should've just said 'no bookings from 1st Dec' and then 8 weeks later all would've been sorted with no confusion.

Can anyone who has travelled UC from LHR over the last couple of weeks give me an update. Did you manage to get treatment?

I'm still pretty p'd off with not being able to book treatments - for me personally, when I travel (on holiday) a major part of my trip was spending time in the clubhouse (Gatwick) and having a treatment. I don't really want to get to the clubhouse very early on the off chance I will be 'fortunate' enough to have a treatment, I'm therefore going to have a decent breakfast (I hear the menu is not as extensive at the clubhouse as it was) at one of the airport restaurants, followed by a treatment at the Clarins spa (I'd rather pay for a treatment there with premium products rather than the cowshed products), and some serious duty free shopping followed lastly by some time in the clubhouse, but nowhere near as much time as I used to spend and definitely not paying for a clubhouse treatment!

So we are in the Clubhouse now and both Richard and I and one of our friends have all booked a treatment with ease. The lounge is very quiet though, so I do wonder what the luck will be like during half term or another busy occasion but for today there are no worries.

Thanks,
Sarah

That does sound promising, but like you I wonder if this is always the case - fingers crossed for my next flight to Sydney as it can be quite busy then.
Have a great flight and wonderful trip.

Arrived in CH on Saturday at 19.10 - fairly busy - haircut at 20.30 before boarding for Delhi. Can we see how this works out - if there were the no shows VS said there were then it's pax who are to blame

I didn't manage to get the haircut that I wanted yesterday, but the lounge was busier than I've ever seen it with delays and cancelled flights from the day before. The last haircut slot was taken by a bloke literally as I was standing there! However both I and the persona I was traveling with did manage to get treatments. I'm keeping an open mind until my next flight out in February, however I'm actually sort of starting to think that it might work... the staff prefer it I think.

However, I don't see how it could be better than pre-booking with a standby list on the day to infill any slots for no-shows...
