Wow - awesome! Nice how one also has a Carbon Monoxide detector in the cockpit ... safety first!

Yes to Funchal as both a passenger and last summer at the hands of a 737-800 simulator at LGW. Apparently that is a 2 captain route. I got to land the normal way from the sea and then the reverse way at night over the town. If it hadn't have been for the FO I would have forgotten to ask for flaps and breaks it was so hard.

Also yes to courchevel airport in the snow with my friend in is 182. That was very scary indeed.

Only Funchal, and it looks like its had a run way extension since.I remember on takeoff the 737 being powered up against the brakes, then a refueling stop in Santiago northern Spain on the way home as they could only get off with a light fuel load.

That is Courchevel an amazing place. I landed there 3 times in one day with a friend in his 182 in the snow. He has to go to renew his certificate for landing there. At about 11am in the morning you fly directly into the sun and are blind for a while.

Years ago I worked on a TV programme about which were the most dangerous airports to fly to from the UK (as voted for by pilots). Funchal came second and I spent a lovely week there just taking shots of each days flights from the UK. This was before they built the runway extension and some jets were hitting reverse thrust almost before the wheels touched down. To stop jets falling down onto the rocks below they built a wall at the end of the runway!!!
Great photos Howard!

Not mine, they came from a small A380 first-to-fly emailing list. Don't know where they got them from though.
