Whatever, it seems VS is convinced that, as Willie Walsh says, there has been a structural change in premium traffic which will not return post recession. So, having believed only last year (or was it 2007) that putting more PE and UC seats in was the right strategy, then hitting the recession, now it's a backward step just as the recession seems to be ending. I hope they're got it right, or this is a very costly mistake ...

Maybe the rear UD lav cubicle will be re-instated, but it's just not shown on the seatmap?

Remember that you currently get two extra UCS on the right-hand side that are facing the stairs, where the W lav used to be on the old config.

Mike

From the looks of things, there's a row 80 that is one-sided only that will occupy the space 11 and 12 currently take. So Y PAX will use the econ toilet. It WILL be funny.

Oooh, I forecast tears after bedtime if UC pax can't change out of the sleepsuits because of the queue for the loo ... [:w]

Time to start changing into PJ's im the Clubhouse.

Hmmmm, not so sure about that one.

It is however another issue that will need clarification, one of many. I have to say it really seem to put many negative aspects to flying UC on the upper deck now. If VS keep that as the snooze zone, it really won't work very with all the Y service still on going.

Honestly, as long as they don't recycle the sleep suits (they don't right?) I don't care where I end up putting it on.

It doesn't leave economy pax much room to move about. There's a few curtains to go through if they fancy a wander round the lower deck to stretch their legs.

I guess they could just remove the bar too and that would solve any potential issues about non entitled using it .....

And the lavatories too[}:)]

Just think about breakfast, how many bacon sandwiches will disappear from the bar up to the Y section ?

Oh and good luck to them, I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting something other than the egg sandwich.

33 Economy pax getting off before 10 in UC. That'll not go down well!

You took the words out of my mouth!! It was bad enough with PE there especially when I got stuck behind an old dear who really shouldn't have been up there as she couldn't manage the stairs

Oi, when I was in Seat 28A or C, I was often first off at SFO. I think if I had been asked to wait, I would have started tripping up a few passengers ;-)

When PE and UC was upstairs, and often you had to be Au to get up there when travelling PE , it was a nice option to get off quickly !

Our LGW/BGI flights have just changed to this config. from the all-UC-upstairs set up. We were going to give upstairs a try for the return leg (for the first time since 1999!); however, I have swiftly moved us back downstairs again.

Crazy idea mixing all those Y seats with UC. Not sure how it's going to work, especially for the loos.

Silly question but don't VS 744s have loos at the front and back of the upper deck?

We're the same, booked BGI-LGW and was wanting to be upstairs but having seen the seat map there's no way I want to be in a suite at the front of the cabin with 33+ pax behind us and toilets at the front of the cabin only. Downstairs it is for us too.

No, only at the front of the upper deck on the LHR fleet. Apart from the downstairs UC toilets the next nearest will be the toilets behind the PE section where the Y section starts.

Apparently they are installing a toilet at the back of the upper deck again. I guess as one used to be there, it's not too hard to put it back.

Indeed so - other airlines have the two, (or three on some (two at the front and one rear)so a bit of a no brainer if VS want to mix classes (again).

It is by far the most sensible thing to do, it just doesn't show as one being there on the new config that shows on the VS site. Hopefully that is just an oversight.

Perhaps someone who flew Virgin when there was UC and PE on the upper deck can let us know if there were two wash rooms or how did it work sharing the one ? (I was a Virgin virgin then [:I])

I can do that. We flew PE in the bubble a few times when it as split UC/PE up there, and there was a toilet at the top of the stairs for PE pax to use. So it is possible for VS to include one on the new config, lets just hope they use common sense and decide to do so.

When there was both PE and UC on the Upper Deck there were three toilets on the upper deck - two at the front for J and one at the back (where seat 11K currently is) for PE.

They are reinstalling the third toilet at the back of the upper deck for the new Y seats so Upper will still have the two toilets at the front to themselves.

And do not worry about any Y pax sitting at the bar - PE customers who used to try and sit there got sent back to their seats so the same will happen again.

Thanks Tinks. That should put all the concerns to rest [y]

Disgustingly pornographic. [V]

I am glad to hear that they are installing a WC for the Y pax. And not only because the queue through the aisle would bother UC pax...it's because, on those occasions I fly Y domestically, I am actually mortified to have to go to the forward loo (typically when the cart is in the aisle, blocking access to the rear heads). I know it's reserved for first class pax -- they even announce before the flight that various classes of service should use their designated WC. So I know I am availing myself of a convenience to which I am not technically entitled and this embarrasses me.

Just changed my seat assignments for VS602 on February 1st, its currently showing config 3, but I don't trust a last minute switch that leaves no good options downstairs so I went back to 15 and 16A.
