Not strictly true. Here in Kuwait, LV is franchised. As per Kuwaiti law, all private companies must have a Kuwaiti as a partner/majority shareholder.

That's interesting, thank you - guess where such laws exist, it's the exception to the rule!

First cabin and captain's table regal company
Pardon the dust of the upper crust - fetch us a cup of tea
Port out, starboard home, posh with a capital P-O-S-H, posh

Anyone knows it's TIFFANY, not Tiffany's (or, worse, Tiffanys). Please make a note of it.

Well, it's no wonder you're at loose ends, hackneyguy, what with Mrs. Councilor Puckerbrush coming 'round for your candlelight supper, featuring the Royal Doulton with hand-painted periwinkles!

'Going to Tiffany's' = going to meet a stripper.

'Going to Tiffany' = going to a lovely jewelers...

You have no idea how much I cried when our Tiffany died...I nearly had a heart attack when I saw her in 'Love Actually' -- it was a miracle of resurrection, it was! I go to church every Sunday now because of that.
