Well may as well ask here because google has failed me and I can't find an answer on there.
Bascially I dropped my laptop the other day, not from a great height, about a couple of feet off the floor and the next day I noticed the screen had started 'bleeding abit at the top' however the next day it wasn't too bad so thought I'd leave it and keep my fingers crossed.

Anyway to cut a long story short, it appears to have got worse (although I can still see the screen perfectly well, it's only at address bar level) I was wondering if there's anything I can do that may make it go away? Or am I going to have to go and get a new screen fitted?

Any help's much appriciated! [:)]

Your going to need a new screen from the sounds of it.

Scrooge is right. I too dropped my laptop and had to get the screen replaced. The replacement screen was about 300 but my insurance covered it.

Yep. Tis broken. Unfortunately it'd one of those things that usually only get worse.

You have two options.

1. Replace the laptop - Probably the easiest and, considering the cost of new ones, cheaper.
2. Google for a replacement screen (ebay) and find a local geek to replace it.

Personally I'd replace the whole thing sooner rather than later or at least get every scrap of data you need off it now before the screen finally dies.

I haven't actually even paid this laptop off yet after my last one broke! I'm hoping it's still covered by it's warrenty.

Accidental damage is not covered under the warranty.

You could always buy a cheap monitor for it, assuming it has the correct socket. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a laptop but at 70ish for a 15 inch screen, its maybe your cheapest option.

Also, just to give everyone a heads up, if your thinking of getting a new laptop/netbook in the next couple of months, DON'T, come June/July there are some very interesting things coming out.

Ok, well I just checked the argos website (where I got it from) it says accidental damage is covered under the warranty, which I hope I've got! Of course that means going back to that stupid god awful shop and try and get a half decent answer of some half brain dead school kid..!

Who didn't drop his laptop [:w]

And let's be honest here, as our parents said about us, we the older generation are now saying, 'the spotty kids know how to work/fix things that I have no clue about', fixing a screen isn't that big a job, just a few screws and a ribbon cable.

Just make sure you have every scrap of important information backed up before it goes away.
Its just possible it will be replaced under the warranty/insurance scheme and your info would then be gone.

Backups are always a good idea anyway [:)]

One thing to point out is please be very careful and try not to get the liquid leaking from the LCD on your skin. LCD panels contain several nasties such as mercury and so is advisable not to come into contact with it. If you do, make sure you wash using plenty of soap and water.

nothing seems to be leaking on the outside unless it's not something you'd notice?
